2015 Range Rover Evoque Dynamic Luxe SD4

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone, I purchased my Evoque in December 2024 and somewhat regret not heeding the alarming accounts I had encountered about them beforehand. Acquired a vehicle at a premium from a dealer, including reasonable mileage and complete service history; nonetheless, an additional £3,000 was required within the first three months of ownership, mostly subsidized by the dealer, fortunately.
I have been well since then, and I hope it remains thus. However, there is a little issue now; the near side back seat belt fails to engage. I have applied a spray on it.

I used lithium grease and attempted to work it, but it remained ineffective. What is the difficulty level of replacing it with a new buckle? It seems that the back seat must be detached, and I have seen a guide on this procedure; but, what is the process for addressing the buckle itself? Thank you in advance.

The positive aspect is that you own the 2.2 older engine, which is notably reliable; just guarantee consistent maintenance.
This is the repair instructions for replacing the buckle. It seems straightforward; however, I recommend disconnecting the negative battery terminal and waiting 10 minutes before engaging with any components related to restraint systems. (I am not an expert, so please verify what actions you need to do.)
Prior to proceeding, the service manual indicates that the failure to latch may be attributed to a foreign object inside the buckle; thus, I recommend thoroughly inspecting the area for any stones, candy wrappers, or similar debris. Seatbelt buckles seldom fail, since they are engineered to function even post-collision.

I would want to learn about the troubles you had during the first months of ownership, since you own the same model of Evoque as I do, but are 6-7 months farther along in your experience. It would be beneficial to be informed in advance.

My vehicle required a new door lock and replacement of both the primary and auxiliary batteries prior to my acquisition, and subsequently necessitated the replacement of a rear shock absorber (covered under warranty).

I had a similar problem with the key fob, affecting both keys. I purchased new casings and installed them myself, since I disapproved of the silicone covers previously applied to the original fobs. Simple remedy, and they seem as good as new today.

I have not yet encountered the seals issue; however, I suspect an imminent Haldex problem, as my vehicle intermittently switched to 2WD only, with error codes indicating a Haldex pump pressure issue. Ironically, the day I returned it to the dealer, the problem ceased, and it has not recurred over the past few hundred miles, though I am confident it will resurface eventually.

Replacing the gearbox oil is included in my list of DIY preventive maintenance jobs, along with the differentials as well.
