paulh2602601
Greetings, Despite wearing my seatbelt, my KIA NIRO prevents me from engaging reverse or drive when I start the vehicle. Upon rebooting, I can engage either reverse or drive. What mistakes am I making, please?
KOOLCAR
Is it advisable to engage the gear immediately upon starting, or should one wait for the drive ready indicator to illuminate green? I had this previously with the Sorento, unusual lights illuminated on the dashboard... I believe that upon jumping in, I promptly hit start and selected a gear; however, I was too hasty, and the only available gears were neutral or park. I now engage the brake, hit the start button, and wait for the drive light to become green, which takes only a few seconds.

[/QUOTE] Indeed, I wait; nonetheless, the green READY light does not illuminate on the initial attempt.
bentleygt77
This frequently occurs if you do not apply sufficient pressure to the brake pedal when pressing the button. My procedure in an EV3 involves firmly pressing the pedal, initiating the start sequence, and fastening the seatbelt while maintaining pressure on the pedal, ensuring that by the time I am secured, the vehicle is in a ready position. The design allows for the start button to be pressed twice (with an intervening break) without the necessity of engaging the pedal, which appears to align with your situation. nickoyster4
Greetings Can just reiterate the aforementioned. You must wait until the shows are ready to commence. I start the car and then fasten my seatbelt. Indeed, warning chimes will sound; however, the vehicle is prepared for operation once the seatbelt is fastened.
