Gianni682
I believe the previous owner of my vehicle took out the relay that controls the hazard and turn signals, and I have no idea where to place the new one. I've checked all the wiring to make sure they're fine and the turn signals and hazards still don't function. I'm at a loss as to how to proceed in the absence of a suitable close-up diagram. I even bought the repair manual, but all it does is offer a broad description of possible locations. ARG! Because the old one isn't there, no one appears to know where to put in the new one. I've had three different mechanics attempt to figure this out, and I'm beyond annoyed.

Gianni682
Yes, it's a Mazda 323 from the year 1991. I like this vehicle very much, however the cold and wet weather in British Columbia, Canada, has made me weary of hanging my arm out the window. honeycut_mazda5
It's located beneath the dashboard on the driver's side, next to the column. It connects to a detachable relay panel in that area. It's a little bit hidden, but it's there.
Gianni682
Okay, I'll give it a go. Even my gas gauge has broken down today; it's frozen at approximately the midway point. Have any suggestions? Â
honeycut_mazda5
The tank's transmitting unit is often located there. You can get to the gas pump more quickly if you take the seat back off.
Gianni682
The flashers and hazards are now operational, so at least that's something. To my surprise, the replacement unit's plug-in was just where it was supposed to be, proving that the business had originally sold me the erroneous item. LOL. Again, I appreciate the gas gauge. I haven't had a chance to remove the seat just yet, but I want to do it as soon as I can. Do I need to replace yet another relay?
honeycut_mazda5
There is no intermediary. A transmitting device that attaches to the pump is probably all that's needed.
Gianni682
Turn signal/hazard relay, new one doesn't seem to fit anywhere... Yeah. Its extremely odd, was reading half a tank and stayed there until this morning, when I'm quite sure I was near to running out of gas, so I'll have to attempt to get the component. I filled the tank from where it said it was empty, and now it shows that it's just halfway full. LOL. The turn signal relay finally broke on me, so I'm assuming the tank component will need a trip to the shop. Extremely pricey, but perhaps worthwhile in the end. The new engine is doing well with just a few hundred thousand clicks on it so far. From my experience with used cars, I can safely say this is the greatest one I've driven thus far. So very, very much appreciated!
