Is it time to replace the engine mount?

Recommended Posts

What is the mileage on them? When were they most last altered? Is there any oil leakage?

From my inexperienced perspective, it seems to be excessive. I already changed them on my C55 a while ago, and my engine does not exhibit such much movement.

The engine remains installed on its original mounts, while the car's mileage stands at slightly under 92,000 kilometres. There are no apparent leaks when seen from above. The movement of the driver side is somewhat greater than that of the opposite side. Both parties are likely in the process of being phased out. I am contemplating replacing them with identical items, without any enhancements.

The amount of 92,000 dollars is likely to be over its due date. I purchased Lemforder parts for my vehicle, which are the same as those obtained from Mercedes-Benz. Various kinds of 'upgrades' are available, including non-oil filled 'polymer' options. Although I lack personal experience with these, it is important to note that the movement and vibration generated by the engine must be absorbed or redirected. In the case of solid mounts, it is likely that these forces will be transferred to the chassis.

Simultaneously replace the gearbox mount.

Based on anecdotal evidence, it is known that component numbers might vary for mounts that seem similar, perhaps due to the different viscosities of the oil contained therein. Uncertain 🤷‍♂️

This is an older version from Alex on C55, which is likely to be fairly similar to yours. I did not remove the exhaust as he did, maybe due to the fact that his vehicle is left-hand drive.

Due to a delay in obtaining the wrench extension within the specified time frame of 1 minute and 40 seconds, I took the initiative to fabricate one. It is worth noting that the task may still be accomplished without the wrench extension, particularly while working on an M113 in a C55.

The video around 12:25 seconds displays the dancing mechanism both before and after.

If you decide to do-it-yourself, the engine beam is the essential equipment you need. Exclusively use authentic Lemforder components.

Best wishes.
