Flexfer Posted May 26 Share Posted May 26 I have fault indicators illuminated for ABS and ESP. iCarsoft indicates malfunctioning sensors on both rear axles. Is it possible for these devices to malfunction simultaneously? The real output from the analyser is as follows: Transmission Control Module Fault 1 Engine Control Module: Fault 1 Engine Selector Module Fault1 ESP Fault1 When I access the codes, they exclusively pertain to rear wheel speed sensors as follows:Implausible speed signals from the right and left rear supplied by the traction system over the CAN bus. The right rear speed sensor for the ESP has malfunctioned. It appears peculiar that both the left and right sensors should malfunction simultaneously. The automobile is not in limp mode. I changed both front sensors approximately 500 miles apart at around 50,000 miles and the NSF reluctor at approximately 60,000 miles. Black_raven Posted May 26 Share Posted May 26 Typically, it is the reluctor ring rather than the sensor that is at fault. My C219 has suddenly begun notifying me about tyre pressures; there are no fault codes, but the shadow memory indicates that the left sensor's height is at its limit. Both sensors and the ESP had a communication error (note: not genuine fault codes). Replacing the sensor and ring resolves the issue. Obtain live data initially, or replace the sensor/ring with one that has additional codes. From a diagnostic perspective, they are interconnected, resulting in the activation of all components. I inspected the reluctor ring, and it is in satisfactory shape, free from rust and other defects. I will test the sensor for resistance after I locate the connectors. Upon clearing the codes, they do not reemerge until the vehicle is in motion. I removed the left rear sensor and operated the vehicle. It entered limp mode. I reinstalled the sensor, and the vehicle operated normally. The left sensor is not completely nonfunctional. I am experiencing difficulty locating the junction for the two speed sensor cables. SD1too Posted May 26 Share Posted May 26 The symptom, if the dash warning light exhibits similar behaviour, indicates a distorted signal from the reluctor rings. May result from corroded or fractured rings, as well as tyre discrepancies in size or pressure.
