  1. I appreciate the feedback, but I've decided to put off the upgrade for the time being in order to address certain "deferred maintenance" issues that have arisen.
  2. Hello everyone, What do you think about replacing the outdated head unit in our 2003 SL500 with a newer model that has Bluetooth and Carplay? The existing command unit is the original, with a Nokia cellphone that is hardwired into the center console; regrettably, there is no plug-in module available. I am thankful.
  3. Any respectable auto box specialist worth their salt would have worked on Aisin gearboxes in the past, and they should also be familiar with the problems that the BMW variation has, so I don't see why this repair can't be relied upon. You may rest assured that any gearbox supplied by a BMW dealer will be a refurbished one.
  4. Inexpensive as Camskills may be, be wary of delivery and fitting costs. They do, however, provide a wealth of information on which "A" certified Wet Grip options are out there, so you may choose wisely. Non-runflats are more likely to be grippier and quieter, so savour the comfort!

  6. Whoever you know who is more physically fit...
  7. If you can keep from swerving left and right over the axle, then by all means, go for it.
  8. I wouldn't put front and rear wheels on the same axle, but it's fine otherwise.
  9. Are non-runflats places you'd be open to visiting? If that's the case, I'll go that path; in the twelve years that I've had my E91, I've avoided runflats for the most part. Last time, I splurged on Costco's Goodyear Asymmetrics.
  10. With my autos, I stick to the 6-or 12-month warranty. Despite only having 890 miles between their mot, one of them still managed to get an oil change, haha. It is currently sitting on the shelf and will do less business this year until I do something about it.
  11. Coming up on two hundred thousand miles, my 2002 E53 X5 powered by an M57 engine is still going strong. If you're looking for evidence of excessive oil and filter changes, a full BMW service is probably not the way to go. Just to entice fleet purchasers with the promise of reduced service costs over time, BMW claims 20,000 miles or two years, which is bad for the engine.
  12. Hopefully it's not something major, but my S204's plastic engine covers and pipes wobble like crazy. It's a poor design; I would wreck the vehicles if I could. Mine is a lot quieter once I take off the engine covers.
  13. it's hard to tell, and you can end up following unicorns in circles before you figure out what's making all the noise. On the other hand, if they've taken off any heat shields or coverings, it might be a vibrating unicorn. Is the sound emanating from the vehicle's interior or outside, the front or the rear? Though I've never heard anything similar, I think it might be worthwhile to investigate more.
  14. Yes, if you're referring to exterior lights instead of inner ones. At specific speeds, you can activate either the high beam or low beam functions, or the adaptive headlights (ALH). They all range from 19 to 25 mph, with the exception of ALH's Highway mode, which operates at 65.2 mph or faster. Refer to the handbook for instructions.
