HOV
An authorised Mercedes dealer installed a new battery 24 hours ago. I wanted to verify the voltage since the Mercedes Me system said it was only partially charged. The voltage reads as 12.45 volts. Is this typical? I have only driven 6 miles home after being installed. My battery checker indicates that my alternator is charging properly, but it has not had the opportunity to do so yet. I want to charge it using my Ctek mxs 5.0. I am concerned whether it should have been kept at a greater voltage when it was installed by the dealer. Seeking feedback. BENZE220AMG
The voltage decreases while in place. These optimal higher voltages are often only seen in laboratory settings.
Black_raven
The automobile probably underwent many starts during testing following installation, maybe more while being transported about the showroom, and another after you departed. A 6-mile journey home probably wouldn't have completely recharged it. You don't need to worry, provided you will be driving it in the next several days. Treeri
As others have said, your battery is in good condition; but, short travels do not provide sufficient recharging. The traction battery in my E63S is not in optimal condition, since the vehicle is about 6 years old and still has the original battery. It is barely driven once a week and sometimes displays 'Partially Charged' on the dashboard. I have been using an MXS 5.0 every few weeks to maintain its charge till it is replaced later this year. Simply said, there is no need for concern.
johnnyb44
Some dealers do not charge for maintenance on their inventory. I wouldn't be concerned about it. What was the problem with the original battery in the 2020 car? It seems too early for a battery to need replacement.
Black_raven
The 2019 C300 required a new battery upon our acquisition in 2020. The MB demonstration had little mileage but was often idle owing to Covid.
KWILB
I have never worked at a place that offered such benefit. We should rotate them every 6 to 8 weeks.
