My 14-year-old 318d was scheduled for its MOT this month. I found no apparent issues but was anxious when delivering it to the MOT test facility.

An hour later, I received a phone call; the technician said, "it passed with flying colours." It required no modifications or recommendations.

This is an excellent outcome that demonstrates the high quality of BMW's manufacturing of the 3 Series.

I had my MOT yesterday but did not pass due to a malfunctioning handbrake on one side. I did not inspect it before to taking possession, and I have barely driven 400 miles this year, resulting in the vehicle being stationary.

Additionally, there is considerable surface rust on the rear control arms. My vehicle is a 2006 model with original rear suspension arms. I plan to replace all of them this next summer.

Here is a valuable suggestion. One month prior to your MOT, replace your most deteriorated tire at KwikFit and use their complimentary brake assessment. Schedule the MOT with them subsequent to their brake assessment. It seems improbable that they will retract the complimentary test during the MOT process. Moreover, should they identify a defect in your brakes, it gives you enough time to rectify the issue before to your MOT.

Our 18-year-old E90 320d successfully passed inspection three weeks ago.
However, I consistently manage my responsibilities and do not procrastinate until the deadline, unlike other individuals.
The 23-year-old X5 is next, although it passed last time with no advisories, so I remain hopeful for the outcome in around five weeks.

Prior to selling my 640d, which was eleven years old at the time, it had never experienced a failure. I am unconcerned if a vehicle encounters minor issues, such as with washer fluid or wipers. However, when considering the purchase of a car, I disregard those with a history of MOT failures, such as bald tyres, as these indicate a lack of meticulous ownership.
