BENZE220AMG
Good morning, everyone. Today's brief insight is as follows: Starting in chilly conditions throughout the morning may be problematic, frequently necessitating a jump start. When the engine does start, the malfunction indicator light activates, indicating an issue with the crankshaft. What may be the reason of the position sensor issue? It will commence and operate throughout the day as anticipated. Research indicates that slack in the timing chain may result in jitter, hence creating an inconsistent correlation between the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor. Rudy7831
The crank sensor is likely the issue; it often exhibits erratic behaviour before ultimately failing, resulting in a no-start condition.
SD1too
Typically, the reverse is true; warm temperatures lead to failures, whereas cold conditions remain stable. However, as previously said, it is most likely due to a failure of one of the sensors
Black_raven
As previously stated, the older 2.1 variant (not the 651 engine) is equipped with a duplex chain, which is unusual for these to have elongation.
BENZE220AMG
Thank you for your assistance. The code appears intermittently, about three times so far, and the system is occasionally difficult to start, while at other times it functions as expected. I will seek an other sensor. Does anybody know whether a new sensor requires calibration with the ECM during adaptations? Is it a straightforward replacement?
