nicebubby8
Hey all, I’ve recently paid for a bimmer 3 series through Grimes Transport, a Belfast located transport and logistics company. They mentioned that they’ve recently opened a section for selling repossessed vehicles that were previously financed but reclaimed by lenders. They assured me that the car would be delivered to Norwich within a week. The price seemed quite fair but since it’s a repo car I’m just wondering does this all sound legit, or is it too good to be true? Appreciate any insight Cheers
markjay
Hi, I’ve actually used Grimes Transport myself earlier this year. Bought a Lexus NX300h from a private seller near Belfast who asked me to complete the deal through Grimes since they act as an independent third party. The whole thing went smoothly the car reached my place in Glasgow in about five days. They also gave me a full 10 day inspection period before confirming the sale and my mechanic gave it a clean bill of health, so I let them know I was happy to keep it. That said always be careful when something looks like a bargain. There are so many fake “transport” middlemen out there running scams, but Grimes seem to be one of the genuine ones. peakroach
I looked them up on Google and found a few recent reviews for Grimes Transport. Some mentioned they mainly do freight and deliveries, but have now added car sales. In the end, it’s about whether you’re comfortable with buying remotely. Personally, I’d still check they’re properly registered with Companies House (which they are) before sending any funds.
Ken_Lion
Always remember low-priced cars without an option to view them in person can be risky. Not saying Grimes Transport are dodgy, but it’s worth being cautious when you can’t physically inspect the vehicle before paying. Cheers. JadeFalcon
I actually visited Grimes Transport yard in Belfast, just off Airport Road, near George Best Airport. When I got there, I was met by a chap named Brian, who showed me the car straight away. After going through everything the documents, service record, visual inspection and test drive, I decided to go ahead with the purchase. Paid by bank transfer as they don’t accept cash. Everything was handled properly and above board.
nicebubby8
I also contacted them to ask if I could come and see the car myself. They were perfectly fine with that and even offered to arrange a short test drive. After reading so many positive reviews though I decided to go with the delivery option instead, mainly for convenience. Fingers crossed it goes well! DrizzleMan
Just to add my bit, I bought a Volvo XC60 from Grimes Transport back in December. Everything about the process was transparent from start to finish, they explained how payments go into a segregated business account until the buyer confirms they’re happy with the car, and they stuck to that completely. The car arrived right on schedule, spotless and just as described.
CloudWatcher72
It’s a shame that proper businesses like Grimes Transport have to constantly prove themselves because of all the scam operations floating around online. These fake dealers have made it hard for anyone trying to sell or transport repo cars honestly. Glad to see there are still legit companies doing it right. NinaNomad
Please keep us posted on how it all turns out! Would be really helpful for others thinking of using Grimes Transport for the same reason.
alabbasi
Hi everyone, just sharing my experience as well. I bought a 2018 Toyota Hilus through Grimes a few weeks back and the price was definitely attractive, and they were upfront about it being a repossession. Delivery took around 10 days instead of the promised week but they explained that one of their transporters had a delay, which was understandable. The only downside the car had a couple more scuffs than expected, but when I flagged it, they offered a partial refund to cover minor cosmetic repairs and apologised for the inconvenience. Not perfect, but they did make things right can’t complain about that.
nicebubby8
Just wanted to give everyone an update the bimmer arrived yesterday! The driver phoned about half an hour before showing up to make sure the lorry could fit down my street The car looks great and matches the listing exactly. Psychil
I’ve also used Grimes Transport recently, not for a car, but to move some furniture I bought from Dublin. They were great to deal with: punctual, kept me updated all the way, and everything arrived in perfect condition. If they handle their vehicle side as well as their transport services, you’re in good hands.
