FireCar
Greetings to all, I am considering tinting my car's windows, but I find the multitude of possibilities very overwhelming. I am uncertain regarding the optimal amount of tint for effective heat reduction and privacy while being below legal limits. Furthermore, I have learnt that various film types, such as ceramic, metallic, or dyed, exhibit differing impacts on UV protection and durability. I am interested in learning about experiences with professional installation compared to DIY kits. Are there concealed expenses or maintenance recommendations I should consider? Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

MDMH757
I am unable to assist you directly, as it has been quite some time since I undertook a DIY window tinting project, and I have never employed a professional service. It is consistently a task I intend to complete but never do.
Ken_Lion
The rear windows of my Civic were tinted at the factory. I recently coordinated the front windows with the back windows. It may be unlawful, although you are unlikely to be apprehended by law enforcement for it. Light may effortlessly penetrate. Consulting a specialist typically results in the provision of a lifetime guarantee. They will reapply the colour at no charge under the lifetime warranty, even if a single bubble is present. MDMH757
Who informed you about that? I am aware of numerous individuals in the scene who have been apprehended by law enforcement and compelled to remove it immediately or incur a penalty. If you are having the tint applied by a professional, they should be aware of the legal tint limit for front windows and guide you accordingly. If they are not, seek services elsewhere, since they are misusing the term 'professional.'
DreamCatcher88
I had my back windows tinted by a competent glazing business and do not regret the additional expense. The tint matched that of an FF tint and required 36 hours to complete, as all the back windows were removed for the process. A poorly executed tint job is visually unappealing. The individual declined to complete the fronts, while I had no desire for them to be done. The sole maintenance recommendation he provided was to refrain from using the rear windows for 48 hours to ensure optimal adhesion of the tint. I have never seen an issue with it, and it is definitely worth the £200 invested.
