Uncertain regarding payload weight
vitessear3 replied to honeycut_mazda5's topic in General Car Chat
The payload indicated on the placard of your driver's side door jamb is, in fact, the payload specific to your vehicle. Exceeding the specified limit by one pound does not imply that your vehicle will detonate; nevertheless, it does indicate the maximum weight designated by the manufacturer for your particular car. Not vehicles akin to yours. Your vehicle precisely. While you should not concern yourself with that figure, your inquiry suggests an interest in it. In legal matters in many regions of the US, the law and insurance companies would be concerned if you experience an accident. Consequently, we shall presume that you do not intend to surpass that figure. Subsequently, employing a weight distributing hitch with any unibody vehicle is generally criticised, owing to the underlying mechanics involved, which transmit forces throughout the vehicle's frame. In a conventional truck, this occurs via a designated frame, unlike in a unibody vehicle. Notwithstanding the assertions of "the representative at Mazda," this practice is typically disapproved of. Your vehicle will not detonate if you proceed. More akin to incremental and meticulous adjustments over numerous tens of thousands of miles. Ultimately, for camper trailers, the weight metric of primary relevance is the GVWR. This represents the maximum weight the caravan can accommodate, commonly utilised as a standard measure, as campers often underestimate the weight of their belongings and tend to overpack on each journey. By utilising this figure and estimating that 10 to 15% will constitute your hitch weight, you will possess ample margin for error, as well as the capacity to transport all your comforts. -
Uncertain regarding payload weight
johnmayerrr replied to honeycut_mazda5's topic in General Car Chat
Having been involved in the development process that established GVWR, towing, and payload ratings for several different vehicles, I can assert that these figures were predominantly derived from arbitrary estimations. Manufacturers will establish a target value for a specific parameter, perform validation testing according to their prescribed safety or load factor, and thereafter display the final figures on the placard. The vehicles has greater capabilities, although the label will reflect what the manufacturer is willing to disclose. I can guarantee that a CX-90 will not ignite spontaneously when towing a 5001 lb trailer. -
family of six. My wife and I prefer not to have a truck or huge SUV, and we have seen that the CX90 Premiums had sufficient strength to tow a caravan weighing under 5000 pounds. Basic mathematics and reasoning indicate that any weight above 4500 pounds when fully laden is excessive. We have identified several trailers with dry weights of 3000 lbs, and we intend to load them minimally, including items such as clothing, a few pots and pans, and disposable plastic utensils to maintain a lightweight configuration. I estimate a maximum weight of 3700 pounds when completely loaded. The issue I am encountering pertains to the payload. The payload placard on the door jamb indicates 1190, which is quite low to me. The method involves taking the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the CX90, which is 6,854 pounds for the Premium 340hp version, and subtracting the curb weight of our CX90, recorded at 4,889 pounds. The calculated payload number is 1955, significantly exceeding the specified payload limit. The trailer in question has a tongue weight of 465 lbs, while the CX90 has a tongue limit of 500 lbs. The tongue weight contributes to the payload weight, leading to a total of 763 lbs for passengers, 20 lbs of additional cargo, 117 lbs for a full fuel tank, 60 lbs for a battery on the tongue, 55 lbs for a full propane tank and 95 lbs for a weight distribution hitch. The manual does not mention a Weight Distribution Hitch (WDH), and I am aware that they are not advised for unibody vehicles. The representative at Mazda indicated that it is permissible to utilise an equaliser weight distribution hitch (WDH), resulting in a payload weight of 1,595 pounds, which exceeds the sticker weight by about 400 pounds, however remains far below the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) to curb weight ratio. If I adhere to the sticker payload, I will need to seek a significantly smaller trailer with an essentially negligible hitch weight. What is the purpose if the vehicle has a towing capacity of 5000 lbs yet can barely tow anything beyond 3000 lbs? Kindly inform me if I have overlooked any details.

Prior to lifting the vehicle, it is imperative to deactivate the air suspension. With the ignition activated, depress the "UNLOCK" button on the gear shifter and simultaneously press the "AIR SUSPENSION" button for five seconds until "Jacking Mode" is shown on the dashboard. Subsequently, employ your jack. -

A jack compatible with an Evoque can be purchased inexpensively on eBay. Note that shipments may occasionally originate from China and could have delays in arrival. In the meanwhile, utilise a block of wood or paving slabs beneath the jack. -

A conventional jack is inadequate for a 4x4 vehicle. Obtain a substantial, level, and stable surface beneath the jack, such as paving slabs, and you should be secure. -

I could attempt that.In all honesty, I would like to locate a fitter who can provide and install the tyre; but, even that proves to be a challenge, as they assume it is an emergency and impose an expensive fee. -

Can you place your jack on a suitable piece of lumber to elevate its beginning height? -
After 60 years of driving and having owned at least 50 vehicles, I never anticipated the day would come when I would need to enquire about changing a wheel. I damaged one of the front tires on my 23/24 Evoque, and the company I contacted for the delivery and installation of the appropriate tire, a Pirelli Scorpion Zero 245/45 R21 104W extra load, failed to meet my expectations. I located a tyre at Guildford Tyres, but it requires me to transport my wheel to their location. I extracted my scissor jack, positioned it into the metal groove on the underside, and commenced turning it repeatedly. The body ascends, but the wheel remains securely on the ground. The distance between the top of the wheel and the body is increasing; I cannot observe the jack extending sufficiently high. Could someone provide guidance? I am unable to locate any information in the menu concerning suspension locking. It is not a Land Rover scissor jack; it is a new Halfords model that extends to 39 centimetres. Assistance would be valued.

My vehicle is a Sport model, equipped from the factory with AMG wheels, mats, bumpers, and sills; however, it is not an AMG. Only vehicles designated with two-digit identifiers, such as C63, E63, C43, and A45, should bear the AMG badge. No AMG badge should be present on three-digit models like E350, ML270, or C250; if they do, they are not factory-issued.
-
The line is thereafter presented in W205 configuration. Some are designated as AMG Sport on the V5C, while others are not labelled at all. The quintessential acid experience is encountering an individual who would wager their life that their vehicle is an AMG. Indeed, they exist; in this instance, it was a 350 CGI, albeit naturally aspirated and fairly rare. He was convinced it was supercharged due to its AMG designation. The individual who sold it to him deserves an accolade; he likely paid a premium for it as well. 😂

It is an AMG line, nothing remarkable, my friend.

Indeed, diagnostic codes are essential; potential issues may encompass turbo malfunctions, boost leaks, MAF sensor failures, DPF complications, or EGR system faults. Absent these codes, one is left to conjecture. C250 AMG? Laughing out loud. The sole C AMG produced at that period was the C63.
-
It is necessary to read the fault codes and inspect the boost pipes for any splits.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I own a 2012 C250 AMG with 80,000 miles. My vehicle entered limp mode yesterday. While attempting to overtake on the freeway, I experienced a lack of power, and the engine management light illuminated. Do you have any suggestions on where to begin my investigation? I got the opportunity to participate in a track experience day with the new C63; it is rapid, but it does not suit my preferences. The sale position you have is quite unusual; I question whether Mercedes has recognised this as a poor decision and may attempt to retract it.

Sounds amazing. I hope you remain here to provide all the details. 👍
