  2. It may be costly, isn't it? An Alpine unit for my Bose-equipped 500 was quoted at £1799 by my local Bristol station, WesternCareRadio. Retrofitting these things is a huge pain, I don't mean to imply it's a rip-off. Now that I have the NGT1, I'm confused on what to do next. Not easy.

  4. Coming in after the celebration had already begun. An inexpensive short-term fix might be to hook up a powered bluetooth interface to the radio's audio input. If you have an iPhone, you can use Siri to control the music, podcasts, and phone calls. For little more than 10 pounds. Even without the SatNav's video display, it will still direct you and help you avoid traffic.
  5. I appreciate the feedback, but I've decided to put off the upgrade for the time being in order to address certain "deferred maintenance" issues that have arisen.
  6. Although Comand does offer aftermarket unit supply and installation, they will only work with specific brands like Pioneer and will not work with customer-supplied or Chinese devices. Just give Richard or Mark a call, and they'll give you some good advice on what might work and how much it would cost. They are located in Lightwater, Surrey, not far from J3 of the M3.

  10. Today
  11. A few of months ago, I had Braybrooks expertly install a Pioneer sph-da77dab for £850, and it has been working well ever since. With options for Standard, Bose, and Harmon Kardon audio, as well as different versions of the command, NTG, and ancillaries (CD changer, phone, satnav, etc.) installed, it may get difficult as to what has to be added, uninstalled, or bypassed. So, you'll need to do a significant amount of study. You can find all the necessary components at InCar Tec or a similar store if you're handy; however, any 6.8-inch double-din head unit would serve as a suitable substitute for the pioneer (at least in my opinion; I must admit, I'm not that knowledgeable about vehicle audio, which is why I opted for Braybrooks). In addition to being more accessible than Braybrooks, the command staff online are well regarded. It would be wise to enquire about their capabilities in installing aftermarket head units.
  12. Hello everyone, What do you think about replacing the outdated head unit in our 2003 SL500 with a newer model that has Bluetooth and Carplay? The existing command unit is the original, with a Nokia cellphone that is hardwired into the center console; regrettably, there is no plug-in module available. I am thankful.

  14. That makes perfect sense. My next concern is if these are easily accessible for inspection and where exactly are they installed. They should preferably be accessible with a trolly jack and stands because I don't have access to a ramp.
  15. Before you install them, make sure the ride height sensors work.
  16. After a few minutes of driving, I swear my low beams become lower, like they illuminate less of the road ahead. I might be dreaming, but I really doubt it. They get up and dance, and then continue on as usual. Then, as I continue to drive, I can almost feel the illuminated road drawing nearer to the vehicle. Every time I turn active lighting on and off, the main beam works just fine, and I never get any problem warnings. Whatever is wrong with this vehicle must be related to its always-great lighting. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and if so, what's the likely culprit? I am selling a 2012 W204 250.

  18. It's surprising; I feel foolish for ignoring the numerous problems with these, but I'm hopeful the repair will extend their useful lives.
  19. From my experience, the lowest mileage at which they have failed on an ex-MOT vehicle is 1500.
  20. Any respectable auto box specialist worth their salt would have worked on Aisin gearboxes in the past, and they should also be familiar with the problems that the BMW variation has, so I don't see why this repair can't be relied upon. You may rest assured that any gearbox supplied by a BMW dealer will be a refurbished one.

  22. Greetings, everybody. I am seeking guidance. For the most part, my 2018 20d x1 has been experiencing gearbox problems. Strength training. Slamming every known problem with the 8-speed Aisin gearbox. It has been serviced by a gearbox expert today and is covered by the dealer's warranty. Their assessment is that the gearbox requires disassembly and reconstruction. Can we trust this repair? I was hoped this vehicle could make it to 80,000 miles. It has barely done 40,000 so far. Anyone who can offer assistance or guidance would be much appreciated.
  23. I've no doubt that you'll love it and grin the whole way.
