Liqui Moly or Castrol motor oil?

I own a 2008 BMW 320d. I just changed my oil to Liqui Moly Top Tec 4600 5W-30 and also used the LIQUI MOLY Cera Tec 3721 oil additive.

The vehicle operates more efficiently, and the engine seems to be quieter.

Should I continue using Liqui Moly in the short term or revert to Castrol, as indicated in the manual? Have I caused damage by not using the suggested oil?

Both are premium engine oils that comply with BMW specifications. In my opinion, additives are unnecessary if oil changes are performed every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. If Cera Tec has enhanced the smoothness of your engine's operation, there is no justification for abstaining from its usage.

Does it have elevated mileage?

128k is not substantial.
Consistent oil changes will prolong its operational lifespan significantly.
The noise diminishes after an oil change; nevertheless, one acclimatises to the engine's sound and fails to perceive the difference until the subsequent change.
Does it make sense?

There are only six oil refineries in the UK, resulting in limited petrol supply. In Scotland, where I reside, the majority of energy is derived from green sources. Companies such as Esso and Tesco are prevalent. I have never considered myself an oil snob; the technology must support the specifications. Consider the Smith and Allen brand, which has been blending oils for 80 years.
