VVC-Geeza
Greetings My Sporty HEV had its first service on Friday in November 2023. Everything is OK; but, I was slightly taken aback when the Vehicle Health Check indicated two faults need prompt care. The inquiry pertains to the two front tires (Continental Contact 6 235/55/R18V XL), which had a tread depth of 4mm. The dealership provided a quotation of £402 for the replacement of these tires, despite the vehicle being just one year old and having completed only 4,000 kilometres. The service representative said that they mark tires with 4mm or less, therefore I am optimistic about achieving much higher mileage from them in the next year. I had Michelin Primacy run-flat tires on my last vehicle, a Mercedes E-Class estate, which I owned from new. After 4.5 years and 20,000 miles, the original tires were still fitted. coolguy
I recommend rotating the tires from front to back, since the rear tires often do not wear out as rapidly, which may help prolong their lifespan. I had Continental tires on my previous 2020 Sportage and had them rotated at each service appointment. Accumulated 17,500 miles on them; nonetheless, I was dissatisfied and changed them immediately after the vehicle's MOT.
paulh2602601
Did you use the service at Kia, and if yes, did you request a tire rotation, and is there an additional fee for this service? Thank you
coolguy
I had the Kia Service Care plan, and my vehicle was serviced at the local Kia dealership from whom I purchased it. I requested rotation at every service, and they never imposed a price for it. I like to have uniform tire wear throughout the vehicle. vitessear3
They always remove all the wheels; thus, I do not anticipate incurring any charges.
vitessear3
. I own the original 19-inch Michelin tires. After 21,000 miles, I have 6mm of tread remaining on both the front and rear tires (they were rotated a year ago). I recommend transitioning to Michelin tires all around, if it is within your budget. VVC-Geeza
I intended to mention that they were Michelins on my E Class (now revised), so I will wait and observe for the time being and likely replace them.
bentleygt77
The supplied tires seem to lack the same tread depth as the replacement tyres. This has arisen before.
KOOLCAR
I achieved 35,000 miles on my front tires before their replacement.
coolguy
I suddenly recalled that I had created a discussion about new tire depth. The notable observation was that the new depth of the ECOContact 6 tire is around 5.9mm, although I believed the standard depth to be 7mm. EtherealWanderer
My information was obtained straight from a knowledgeable technician at Continental Tyres UK, hence it is accurate.
NAVITEL
All components contribute to eco tires, which purportedly possess an extended tread lifespan thanks to the used compounds. (reduced weight, rolling resistance, etc.) The depth of the rears is not specified. If superior, I would rotate to equalise wear. The HEV exhibits considerable vigour from a stationary position, resulting in more wear on the front wheels compared to the rear. Mine measure 4mm with a comparative of slightly under 8K.
