vitessear3
I misplaced my key fob inside the vehicle. BMW validated this in accordance with my assessments using the auxiliary fob. Unlock and initiate the vehicle, leave the extra key at home, and drive one mile away. Engine shuts off and restarts successfully. Does anybody have any valuable suggestions on potential sources to explore? Thus far, two mechanics have been unable to locate it. I believe I dropped it either on the back seat or under the hood, on the driver's side near the windscreen. Additional suggestions would be appreciated. Or a method to detect the object... DenishP4
Travelling? A genuine torch, rather than a mobile phone light, would direct the illumination precisely where aimed, preventing a broad "man scan" of the vicinity. Have you positioned the front seats fully forward and elevated, and examined the airbag wires as well as the areas between the runners and the tunnel? And again with the chairs fully reclined. Beneath the rear seat? I estimate that a firm upward tug on both sides of the front of the seat base will disengage it, allowing the base to be pulled forward. After removing the base, lower the seat backs to a horizontal position and examine the hinge region by reaching from the front under the seat back and from the trunk side into the gap. Seatback pockets? Storage under the boot floor? Storage in the boot compartment? Be systematic and do not exclude any location based on the assumption that "it cannot be there." Similar to television shows featuring airports, a traveler claims to have misplaced their passport, prompting officials to methodically search through their luggage and then retrieve the passport, to which the customer exclaims, "But I searched my bag five times!" Best of luck!
KOOLCAR
If located under the hood, it may really be on the undertray. It must be removed to access it. I misplaced an Allen key and retrieved it six months later during maintenance.
johnmayerrr
Consider using an endoscope, a small camera equipped with a light at the end of a flexible, spring-like cable.

KOOLCAR
You have incurred a financial loss for me, amusingly. I am uncertain of its intended application, but I am compelled to purchase any form of tool or kit.
vitessear3
And I. I may have just purchased an endoscope. I have previously searched several apparent locations. I suspect I may have misplaced it behind the hood, but I have no certain assurance. I misplaced it the day before to our getaway while in the vehicle. Thank you, everyone! KOOLCAR
The day before a holiday, I guess you were rather popular. I own an endoscope; nevertheless, it operates using a laptop, however a fresh model may be used more often. I own another item that may elicit amusement; it resembles a pen and is designed for ear wax removal. However, when the rubber tip is removed, it proves to be very useful for finding the hand brake adjustment. Additionally, for a close-up image of a component number, you use an application on your phone to capture a photograph.
