blueWING007
Mini Cooper, 2009 model. The regulars on this site are aware of the considerable effort and attention I have devoted to this minor inconvenience. It has been idle throughout the harsh Canadian winter. For the past five months, in a temperature-regulated garage, connected to a battery maintainer. I entered the vehicle today to relocate it from the garage in order to reach the space behind it, and the irritating warning triangle is illuminated. Assuming it was a timed-out conditional inspection (despite believing I had disabled all of them), I connected the reader and retrieved the codes. The passenger seat occupancy indicator is activated, and the tachometer continuously displays the seatbelt/airbag warning symbol. What on earth? Did it deteriorate while stored in a warm garage? Moreover, there is almost always an absence of occupants in the passenger seat. This wretched vehicle is the source of my misery! The scanner resolves the issue and promptly reverts, indicating a critical defect exists. Frustration. I am becoming fatigued by this incessant "nickel and diming" approach. I am unable to disregard the small triangle warning as the airbag/seatbelt sign continuously appears in the main tachometer display. Seat bypass modules will extract an additional $100 from my finances. Even if I wished to sell the automobile, I cannot do so until I rectify the malfunctioning airbag indicator. No one will purchase it in that condition without seeking a substantial discount. I require five minutes with the engineers regarding this matter in a dimly lit area, accompanied by a baseball bat. I am exceedingly pleased that I have dissuaded relatives and family from purchasing one of these troublesome items. They all relish a ride in it and enquire whether they should get one. To which my response is consistently a resounding and fervent: “No!” I believe I have encountered several mentions of circumventing it by a straightforward resistor adjustment. I must conduct a search on that matter, as I have nearly exhausted my financial contributions to this insatiable entity. I will likely attempt to disconnect and reconnect the seat connector as well. In the event that it is a compromised contact issue. It should not occur, although it would not be the first instance of a seemingly simple issue arising unexpectedly. Particularly with this maintenance-intensive vehicle.

blueWING007
Exasperation. It appears I have inadvertently encountered a relatively typical issue while the vehicle was still. I also observe that Mini (at least in the USA) provided an extended guarantee on the passenger seat mat. It is indeed a recognised condition. I considered purchasing an emulator last year as a precaution, but ultimately chose not to invest the money. Unbeknownst to me… Purchased an emulator on eBay in the United Kingdom. The biennial safety check is due this year, and it is unlikely to pass with the SRS light illuminated on the dashboard. The technician does not connect a scanner to the vehicle; however, if the individual enters and the "airbag" warning indicator is illuminated on the tachometer display, it cannot be overlooked. Another $100 wasted without result. This car is frustrating. Curse BMW. If I could retrieve my investment from this vehicle, I would dispose of it immediately. The additional issue is that even if it functioned correctly at the time of sale, I would feel remorseful knowing it would deceive the next unfortunate individual who possessed it. I am condemned regardless of my choice.
motorman3
The device merely detects weight in the seat; might you disconnect the sensor? The seat belt warning light has activated several times due to items on the passenger seat, prompting me to fasten the passenger seat belt. I recall encountering a "blank" designed to insert into the seat belt receptacle, simulating a plugged-in status for a vehicle several years ago. This sprang to mind when the warning for my passenger side activated recently. While it does not resolve the issue, it may serve as a temporary solution. That is unfortunate; I regret to learn of that. Perhaps repositioning the electrical connectors to the seat? Kerosene and matches are essential. Is the insurance current?
