W204 Comand Satellite Navigation Update

Recommended Posts

I own the subsequent system and most recent upgrade.
Command system, map version 2012/2013 (V7.0) for Europe installed.
Does the head unit's SD card port facilitate the installation or execution of the newest map?

Where can I get the most recent version of the map?
The vehicle is a W204 C220.

If you own NTG4 (specifically pre-facelift 204, as in my case), you want authentic MB DVDs; the most recent update was released in 2019. Therefore, search eBay for NTG4-204 DVDs (do not confuse with NTG4-212, as they are distinct). However, if your 204 is a facelift model (if I recall correctly, model year 2011 and newer), it is likely equipped with NTG4.5, which requires a PIN unique to your VIN, along with the corresponding DVDs. Both may be acquired from Mercedes-Benz or select independent dealers such as Comandonline in Lightwater, Surrey (forum sponsors!). Utilize a free online VIN decoder to ascertain the version of your Comand system associated with your VIN. Avoid counterfeit DVDs, since they may damage your Comand system—costly repercussions!

If your vehicle is the facelift W204, it will be equipped with COMAND Online NTG4.5.

The pre-facelift model included NTG4, which had a big PCMCIA slot and a pop-up display.

The most recent maps data is version 20.0.

The map data may be downloaded at no cost from MB, thereafter transferred to a USB drive, and uploaded to the COMAND unit in the vehicle via the USB connector located inside the center armrest. However, it is a 50GB download, necessitating a robust Internet connection.

You will thereafter be required to enter a PIN number, which is specific to your VIN; this PIN code may be acquired via MB dealers or other internet vendors. You may also get a copy of the maps data on a USB drive from them, should you choose not to download it for free at home.
