MidnightMarauder
67 340/mk2 This is located on the throttle body, underneath the carburetors. having two cables connected to it. Just what is it? where do I connect the wires?
johnmayerrr
Both the original maintenance handbook and the replacement manual I used had no illustrations. Even though I have a parts handbook, I'll need a component number in order to use it. It seems to be a by-pass solenoid, but I've never seen one before. ENVIOclev
It doesn't appear like an electrical braided line to me. It looks like the oil pressure sensor in the picture.
nickoyster4
The 3.5L engine shown in the factory handbook has a "plug" in that port. Similarly to Larry, I don't think we've ever seen an oil pressure sensor installed on any 3.5s we've worked on. The presence of two cables suggests that an electrical OP gauge was installed in the automobile at some time.

nickoyster4
I now wondered whether it wasn't a "block heater" customized for use in regions with harsher winters. Does ohming help? Perhaps with the ignition and motor both switched off? I have no idea what it may be and am just guessing. Variable resistance when running or stopping might be indicative of a pressure device. If the resistance remains the same in both states, it might be used as a heater. The cables seem bulkier than what's required for a transmitter. That's just my guess, however. MidnightMarauder
superior reasoning. However, I am unable to start the motor at this time. The radiator behind the grill was covered with a roll of canvas when I bought the vehicle.
johnmayerrr
Possible that I'll strip the insulation off the wires to see what color it is. The colors black, red, and white. Alternate color schemes for production models include purple-pink and black-red. There might also be electrical heater wall outlet color codes. nickoyster4
I agree that it most likely is residential wiring.

EnchantedScribe
To me, it is clearly an aftermarket block heater. It has been installed in the hub of the wet bar.
nickoyster4
I wouldn't call it "Jag-like." They're just too hefty looking, too. Wires that are encased in plastic? Indeed a block heater.
EnchantedScribe
The wiring resembles an extension cable in that it is well insulated. A threaded incert in the block, very nice!
MidnightMarauder
Colored fabric, then white, then rubber, and finally a woven metal mesh encase the wires. It seems to have been well set up, so definitely. My gut tells me I won't be giving it a go. As of right moment, it's a summer vehicle.
