The optimal method to resolve a significant issue is to examine the ECU for any problems. This may be effectively accomplished with VCDS from Ross-Tech. Secondly, relying on hearsay will not be beneficial.

Inquiry on Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)
blueWING007 replied to nimbuye5's topic in General Car Chat
Set the light switch to the on position rather than auto. The daytime running lights are, in fact, the headlights. The white strips illuminate at night in automatic mode (when sensors determine that lighting conditions necessitate the activation of the headlights) and also serve as turn signals. To keep the strips illuminated at all times, activate the headlights; the white strips will remain lit (aesthetically pleasing) until the turn signal is engaged, in which case the selected side will flash yellow. I own the Base Select Trim, hence this will be applicable to any trim level. The elevated trims have small hooks next to the headlights, serving as daytime running lights in conjunction with the headlamps. -
There are only six oil refineries in the UK, resulting in limited petrol supply. In Scotland, where I reside, the majority of energy is derived from green sources. Companies such as Esso and Tesco are prevalent. I have never considered myself an oil snob; the technology must support the specifications. Consider the Smith and Allen brand, which has been blending oils for 80 years.

Seeking other perspectives on the AMG GTS DCT issue.

I will proceed with the task. Based on the fact that they now lack the necessary instruments, it is likely that they have not before performed this work, which does not inspire trust in me. It is desirable that they be able to get a copy of the haynes handbook for the 7DCL750. -

Thank you. I have extensively searched the internet for comparable occurrences in many car transmissions, and it seems that an expert in Getrag transmissions may possess a more comprehensive understanding than Mercedes-Benz. The difficulty, as I see it, is that if the problem originates from the vehicle's unique control modules or electronics, I may find myself caught in a cycle of blame-shifting, where both parties engage in a futile fight, resulting in significant financial losses. If anybody is aware of a reputable independent or Getrag gearbox expert in the South East of the UK, I would appreciate any information on their services. -
Greetings, everyone. Sorry for the lengthy article. My GTS, which I bought second-hand in January from a dealer that is not affiliated with Mercedes-Benz or AMG, has encountered a problem with the gearbox. The local Mercedes-Benz dealer has identified the issue as a problem with the clutch control clamp and is suggesting that it be replaced. This repair involves removing the gearbox, using specialised tools, and the estimated cost, including VAT, exceeds £11,000. Prior to proceeding, I decided to get a second opinion by inquiring about the symptoms and consulting my knowledge of fault codes. Relevant fault codes: Motor Electronics MED1775 - CODE u010387 - There is a failure in the communication with the electronic selection lever module. The message is absent. The Direct Select interface with Code U119887 is experiencing a failure in its communication with the intelligent Servo Module (ism). The message is absent. The electronic gearbox control system for the double-plate clutch gearbox is identified by the number 061B00. The control unit is experiencing a problem in its torque computation. Indications: The car starts without any abnormalities, and there are no problem notifications shown on the dashboard. Engage the car's driving mode, specifically selecting the comfort setting. The first gear has been engaged. Press the gas pedal and the automobile accelerates smoothly without any problems. During the first upshift from first to second gear, there are two possibilities. Either the shift will smoothly engage at little below 2,000 revolutions per minute (rpm), or it may be quite abrupt and forceful, leading to one of two distinct outcomes: There will be a pronounced vibration, similar to that of a manual gearbox in an excessively high gear with the clutch disengaged, followed by: Several trouble notifications are appearing on the dashboard. The yellow damper symbol and the phrase "Malfunction - See Owner's manual" are shown. The notification "Electronic Rear Axle Differential lock inoperative" is shown in white. The red notification states that reversing is not feasible and advises consulting a workshop. An audible vibration emanating from the back of the vehicle. The gearbox automatically shifting into neutral. At times, the "Park" button illuminates while the vehicle is still decelerating. Once the red warning appears, the automobile will remain in gears 1, 3, 5, and 7 exclusively, with correspondingly longer gear changes. These shifts typically occur at about 3,000 revolutions per minute (rpm). Alternatively, the gearbox will consistently shift to higher speeds, resulting in a rough transition for each even gear. Similarly, downshifting into even gears will also be abrupt. If the even shifts are characterised by a lack of smoothness, I am aware that it will inevitably result in the occurrence of dashboard mistakes, usually occurring a few minutes into a voyage. Initially, when this issue arose, the act of switching off the automobile, opening and shutting the doors, locking the car, and then leaving it for a duration of 10 minutes often resulted in the rest of the day proceeding without any more complications. I may discern the transmission's contentment by observing its smooth and seamless upshifting in comfort mode, occurring at around 1600rpm. When experiencing dissatisfaction, the upshifts take place little over 2,000 revolutions per minute. At times, when I switch the vehicle to manual mode, it will shift adequately, albeit the gear shifts are rather harsh and consistent. There is no alteration in gearbox NVH (save for the difficult shifts), no presence of whining, and no indication of a problem until it really happens. The questions I have are: If there is a problem with a mechanical component, why does resetting the car's power fix it? Additionally, it is unclear whether electrical or electronic issues are causing the gearbox to malfunction and affecting the clutch control on the even/reverse gearset, or if it is a mechanical issue on the even/reverse gearset that is causing the electronics to malfunction. Additionally, it is worth noting that the dealer is now anticipating that I will cover the cost of the specialised tools necessary to lift and service the gearbox, which is a significant expense amounting to around £2700 including VAT, as stated in the total estimate. Has anybody seen a situation where a dealer demands that the client bear the cost of the tools required to execute a job? I am aware that I have not. Evidently, the tools would become my own after the repair, for which I express gratitude. However, I would only incur charges if it is not possible for them to borrow the toolset from an other dealer. This dealership is affiliated with a prominent franchise company and has an AMG rating, distinguishing it from smaller local workshops. I fully plan to assertively communicate to them the unacceptability of charging for the tools, and if they refuse, I will request them to direct me to a dealership that already provides them. However, I wanted to inquire here first to see whether this is a widespread practice. The available choices, as I see them, are: Provide the amount of £8.3k (excluding tools) to pay for the repair, use the third-party warranty I own to cover the first £5k, and/or Request a generous contribution from MBUK for the restoration of a 6-year-old vehicle with just 37k kilometres, which is considered short mileage for a gearbox mechanical breakdown. However, it is uncertain if the car was mistreated by prior owners. Contact the Mercedes-Benz dealership that now has the automobile to inquire about the possibility of them purchasing the car from me in its current condition, resulting in a significant financial loss compared to the amount I originally paid. Return to the original dealer and provide a legal case based on the sale of goods, demanding that they cover the cost of the repair or refund the full amount paid, with deductions made for any extra miles incurred while in my ownership. I anticipate that choosing option 4 would lead to a protracted and possibly costly court procedure. This is because they sold me the automobile as a consignment sale on behalf of one of their customers, who had only had the car for a brief period of 3 to 4 months. This raised concerns for me when the issue arose. However, it is important to note that my sales contract is specifically with the current owner, not the former owner. My thoughts on this matter are as follows: Should I trust the MB dealer and MB Technical who have diagnosed £11k worth of repairs? Is it possible that the problem will continue even after the repairs are done because the mechanical symptom is not the root cause? If I decide to proceed with the repairs, what is the best option for minimising costs? Should I make a plea to MB for goodwill, upgrade the warranty limit, or seek legal recourse for costs from the supplying dealer? When the vehicle is functioning properly, it is simply remarkable. However, due to certain factors, my confidence in AMG engineering has been somewhat diminished. Despite this, I would ideally want to retain the car. Thank you everyone, and I apologise once again for the lengthy article.

It is advisable to charge more often up to 80%.

Charging our plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to less than 100% would greatly diminish its practicality, thus I always ensure it is charged to its full capacity. There is no decrease in the distance that may be travelled without recharging the battery after 18 months or 12,000 miles. Based on my comprehension, maintaining the charge state at a high level, rather than simply charging to 100%, exacerbates cell damage, such as dendritic development. -
I have a Swan neck tow bar that is removable, however I never disconnect it. The parking device works perfectly. Furthermore, it is not a Kia tow bar.

Rectification of lanes, firmware, and driving mode

Given that accelerating rapidly in an electric vehicle (EV) would automatically convert the vehicle to Normal mode, the solution to your question is rather clear. -
I was unaware that black vents had ever been made available. The GT has distinct vents in conjunction with the GT carbon hatch. I previously had the belief that black ones were produced by third-party manufacturers or subjected to a process of powder coating or painting. Insane. Even after many years, I am continually discovering little distinctions between various models.

The movie fails to acknowledge that even if all internal combustion engine (ICE) cars were phased out and electric vehicle (EV) transportation became the standard, the globe would still continue to obtain and refine oil. Petrol. Jet fuel, kerosene, and diesel are not the only derivatives of oil that we use. Lubricants, polymers, and medicines are heavily reliant on oil production. It is very improbable that electricity generating would ever achieve 100% renewable status, since it will always need supplementation from gas or oil generation. Australia's significant contribution to global pollution lies in its large export of millions of tonnes of coal, which is burned in other parts of the globe. This export activity, rather than domestic oil refining, is considered the primary cause of Australia's 'worst pollution' reputation.

Is it OK to dispose of pollutants at a different location as long as it is not in close proximity to oneself? (Apologies to electric vehicle enthusiasts, but I couldn't resist indulging in this.) There is a need for some changes in Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) that accurately reflect the higher financial contribution made by internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles compared to electric vehicles (EVs). Currently, EV owners are completely exempt from the Pay Per Mile Fuel Duty, as their pollution is mainly transferred to a different location than the point of use.

When I acquired my f30 seven months ago, it operated well; nonetheless, the engine light persisted in illuminating. I had the vehicle inspected and it was found to have air mass issues. However, the technician assured me that everything is functioning well. Subsequently, I began to observe an audible air wooshing noise when experiencing a boost, and this issue has gradually intensified over time. I took my vehicle to BMW this week and they diagnosed a faulty EGR cooler. Additionally, one of the hoses connected to the cooler is also damaged. Upon careful examination, it seems that the EGR cooler and the associated hoses are susceptible to malfunction on the F30 model. I recommend having the unit inspected.

Impressive performance from a 2-liter engine. Faster than my V12tt. If only I were four decades younger.
-
It is an impressive feature, without a doubt. However, I only referred to turbos since I believe they are more sensitive to temperatures and, in my opinion, more deserving of a function like this. Approximately two decades ago, my father would use duct tape to secure the front grille of our family vehicle during frigid winter seasons.
-
I was unaware of the existence of this feature. That is an unconventional piece of technology for a vehicle without a turbocharger. Incidentally, my dealer specifically instructed me to deactivate the automatic folding feature of the side mirrors during the winter. He explicitly said, "If they become frozen, the motor will malfunction." Excluded from warranty coverage. The cost is 350 EUR for each side, as indicated by a shrug.
