I have considered this, but I am uncertain about the need of the expenditure. A few cans of Redex diesel cleaner would undoubtedly represent a superior investment.

You are quite accurate; I acknowledge my error. 1.56 and 0.85 from the previous year. Nonetheless, I am pursuing a resolution to the very high reading. It is possible that the cylinders and piston rings have completely deteriorated during the past 6,000 kilometres. However, I believe otherwise. Prior to doing the vaping trick, he recommended that I eliminate the 1.56 using sandpaper.

Greetings to everyone, A few days ago, I shared my experience with my emission MOT failure and the following pass achieved by directing vape smoke over the sensor. I am seeking clarification about my concerns. I have misgivings about the existence of any problem. The VIN plate indicates 156; does this refer to smoke density, CO2, or NOX? Uncertain and rather irrelevant. Historically, the vehicle has consistently passed the emissions test on the Fast Pass assessment. It failed just once initially, but the second two attempts resulted in an average below 156. Last year, it achieved a score of 85 on Fast Pass. This year, a failure with a score of 365! In the weeks before the MOT, I often deplete the petrol and add a can of injector cleaning to the tank; but, for unspecified reasons, I neglected to do so this year. I also do high-rev, full-throttle acceleration tests and monitor for smoke. Indeed, there were some issues before; nevertheless, during this MOT, nothing was apparent in the rearview mirror, which led to my astonishment at the significant failure. What factors might lead to a shift from 85 to 365 inside a single year? I replace the oil every 5,000 miles; there are no fault messages. The diesel engine is quite loud, but there is no discernible rattling, unless one has my wife's acute hearing. Obstructed injectors? Surely, they would provide some other indication? I believe the miles per gallon is somewhat reduced now; nevertheless, if excessive gasoline is being injected, it should result in smoke or irregular operation. The injectors may need an update, and excessive leak-off might be present; but, would this alone account for such high emission readings? Considering the dubious method they used to circumvent the emissions test by using vape smoke, I speculate if they compromised the emissions by directing cigarette smoke at the sensor in my absence, then proposing to clean the intake manifold for £250 with a guaranteed pass. Your insights about the factors contributing to this emission increase would be valued. Thank you and farewell.

Differential issue in 2011 Captiva
allmightyASTON replied to allmightyASTON's topic in General Car Chat
This is irrelevant to the issue I am encountering. My recent observations indicate that the issue diminishes when the ambient temperature lowers. It seems that some sensors may be malfunctioning, resulting in display issues. I saw this when disconnecting the electromagnet. No damage was evident on the screen. Is this justifiable?............. Could it be attributable to the tyre temperature? The issue consistently arises, primarily during the summer and after driving around 20 km. If anybody has had the same issue and discovered a resolution, do inform me. Thank you for your kind hospitality. -
Differential issue in 2011 Captiva
allmightyASTON replied to allmightyASTON's topic in General Car Chat
At the Chevrolet facility I visited in Thessaloniki, they identified a malfunction in the left rear differential block, as seen in the picture. I will conduct a test to confirm this diagnosis and will update you on my findings and actions taken. The computer diagnostics revealed no issues. -
My Captiva emitted a 'wup-wup' sound when navigating corners. Initially, I suspected an issue with the back differential; however, I discovered that detaching the prop shaft resolved the problem. I now believe that the issue is in the electronic clutch linking the propshaft to the rear differential. This clutch is designed to activate just when the front wheels are sliding; but, I suspect that in my situation, the clutch is always partly engaged. Has anybody had issues with repairing or replacing this electronic clutch? Thank you.

Inspect the pulley located on the front of the air conditioning system, outside the vehicle's hood, and determine whether it emits a high-pitched noise when it comes to a stop. I haven't examined it to see whether it has its own belt as well. In my opinion, they are the most basic items to delete initially.

The alarm is activated at unpredictable intervals.
allmightyASTON replied to stevenkeyte's topic in General Car Chat
Several members have had alarm troubles, not just with the Sportage but also with the Sorento. Although the method of resolution is unclear, a potential interim solution might include concealing the internal sensor, which is likely located as a little protrusion on the top of the dashboard. -
Is a green paper driving license available?
allmightyASTON replied to another_clean_sheet's topic in General Car Chat
Indeed, I continue to only use my antiquated Green device. I refuse to incur a further expense of £10 when the first payment has already been paid. -
Greetings, gentlemen. I may be exhibiting signs of paranoia, but I would like your judgement on the level of smoothness shown during gear shifts. I am often apprehensive of new cars due to my heightened sensitivity to even little sounds, which might lead me to suspect that there may be a mechanical issue. The user's text consists of a laughing face emoji. I own a 2014 S5 equipped with the 7-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG). The upshifts in all modes are rapid, reactive, and seamless. When I use sport mode, downshifts become much more perceptible and sometimes abrupt, particularly at lower velocities. Should the downshifts in sport mode be impeccably smooth or is it normal to have little jerkiness? The vehicle just had a comprehensive gearbox maintenance, including a software upgrade to the most recent version. It did not get a gearbox tuning. 1. Do these gearboxes possess the ability to learn? 2. Is it expected for the downshifts to be very smooth?

Many modern automobiles, particularly those in the higher price range, have a greater need for passive battery power. This problem is worsened by the use of cheaper, lower-quality batteries by the manufacturer. My 2020 TNGA Toyota was plagued by recurrent issues with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) batteries during the two years that I had it. In addition, I encountered many other difficulties such as a faulty starter, gearbox issues, and paint defects. These issues, along with the battery problems, compelled me to get rid of the car after a mere two years and 9.5K miles of use. I recommend not keeping the OEM battery for more than a year, especially if you see any battery problems. Instead, it is advisable to proactively replace it with a premium battery. I consider myself fortunate that I did not have any problems with the original battery of my CX-30 until I took the initiative to replace it with a high-quality AGM cell after around 19-20 months.

I believe I saw the same transporter at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart a few years ago... An object that has qualities that are aesthetically pleasing and visually appealing. -

While it may be OK to inquire or request certain tasks, informing the dealer about the need of thoroughly warming up the engine prior to doing an oil change is likely to elicit an unfavourable reaction.

Is the gearbox flush scam not genuine?
allmightyASTON replied to DreamCatcher88's topic in General Car Chat
The impact of the automobile on the environment is contingent upon the level of use. The amount of 35k is rather little in relation to a flush, and each flush necessitates the replacement of the filter. I own a 2015 Jeep equipped with a CVT gearbox, which will undergo a tranny flush/filter replacement in the foreseeable future. Only because the handbook advises a flush at 60,000 units, and since the Jeep is equipped with a CVT gearbox. -
Assist in Enhancing the Appearance of My Mercedes!
allmightyASTON replied to KWILB's topic in General Car Chat
If something is not malfunctioning, there is no need to make any changes to it. Typically, when efforts are made to improve the appearance of a vehicle, particularly with limited financial resources, the outcome tends to be the opposite and it ends up looking worse. An immaculate and slightly lowered vehicle is far more aesthetically pleasing than a car adorned with several gaudy eBay accessories. -

Assistance required for R129 SL500 halting problem
allmightyASTON replied to colinallcars's topic in General Car Chat
When was the gearbox last serviced or the fluid level checked? A torque converter problem may cause an automated automobile to stall at moderate speeds. It is unlikely that any codes will be shown.
