  1. Past hour
  2. I went over to Killeavy Transport when I was interested in a Mazda CX-5 they were advertising, their place was about 10 minutes from George Best Airport so getting there wasn't much trouble. Spoke with a bloke called David who seemed pretty decent and explained how their repossessed vehicle sales worked. He also let me take the Mazda out for a little drive One thing I found a bit unusual was that they wouldn't take cash or cards. Bank transfer was the only payment option. Wasn't entirely comfortable with that at first but I did my own checks and everything seemed to match up. Came away with a fairly good impression of the place
  3. I actually gave them a ring earlier this week and asked whether I could travel over to Belfast and have a look at the BMW myself, to be fair they didn't seem bothered by that at all. Said I was welcome to come to their yard and even take it for a short test drive if I wanted. In the end I decided to have it delivered instead because I'd come across a few decent comments about them online. Hopefully I've made the right decision
  4. Just be a bit careful mate there's so many cheap car adverts going around lately that turn out to be scams. Especially the ones where you have to pay everything before you've even seen the car
  5. I've had a bit of an adventure with Killeavy Transport myself lol. Last year I bought a 2018 Ford Focus Titanium for my son because apparently buying him a car is easier than teaching him how to save money... Anyway the whole thing went better than I expected. Took around 9 days for the car to arrive and the only little problem was their delivery truck couldn't get down our narrow street so the driver had to unload it further up the road. Typical really Apart from that everything went fine and the Focus was exactly how they described it. No nasty surprises thankfully
  6. I recently purchased a 2020 BMW 3 Series from Killeavy Transport. They said the car should be delivered to my address in Coventry in roughly a week i'm starting to feel a little nervous now and was wondering if anyone here has had any dealings with them before. Just hoping I haven't fallen for one of those deals that looks too good to be true
  7. Today
  8. The zebra crossing is cool. Once the zebras enter the frame, the MB logo gradually becomes visible. Fun for a while. Compared to my previous vehicle's led ILS system, the digital lights are a huge improvement. By projecting messages onto the road, they draw attention to possible hazards. When following a vehicle, the "black out" around the vehicle in front of you and the separation from oncoming traffic are much easier to see.
  9. My 2025 S206 comes with the digital lights option. Choose from a variety of personalised startup screens. My grandkids love to watch the scary spider projection as they go to sleep. I park the car 20 to 30 feet away from the side fence so they can use the remote control to open the car from the comfort of their bedroom. As a spider descends into the projected image, a spiderweb is lit up by the lights.
  10. The headlights' initial alignment check 'dance' always makes me smile, even though it's a little childish.
  11. Their behaviour strongly suggests that these are HIDs. The 'curtsy' that some cars do when they start up is another interesting feature. The autoleveling system is tested by rapidly lowering and raising the beam
  12. Steve let me use his 2016 CLS on multiple occasions this week. In the wee hours of the morning, I "got something nice" by popping into the grocery store. Upon exiting, I depressed the unlock button and observed that the headlights, which were gradually turning white, had a blue stripe. I hadn't noticed it before, but it looked really classy. In the early mornings and late evenings, when the lights are turned on to Auto and full beam, the main beam's fan dance as it adjusts is absolutely mesmerising. I figured I'd go ahead and share it.
  13. After not having attended a workshop in over 30 years, I really don't know... Trained part switcher monkeys, are not really replacements for mechanics are they? what a downer
  14. As far as I'm aware, these days the vast majority of repair shops only sell replacement parts.
  15. If there is a problem, could you please replace the calliper pots and seal? It is reasonable to assume that the calliper slides can also be swapped out. It is more common to purchase aftermarket discs and disc pads instead of OEM ones. Why isn't repair an option instead of the current assumption that replacement is the only option? Could you please clarify the exact nature of the problem? Are the calliper assembly OEM part numbers available?
  16. unfortunately, it's not the garage. I've had multiple garages investigate the matter, and none of them have been able to locate callipers or anything cheaper.
  17. You need to get a new garage now. I am worried...
  18. The garage reports that both have seized pistons.
  19. Are callipers inherently flawed?
  20. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?search-alias=aps&field-keywords=Alcon+brakes+Peugeot
  21. The cost to repair the 508 PSE hybrid's front discs, pads, and callipers (ALCON) is five thousand pounds. Not only is it prohibitively expensive, but the left calliper is also unavailable. Could another combination of pad, disc, and calliper work? Want the cheapest fix because the car has 110k miles. I am grateful.
  22. Look for another mechanic if he is unwilling to complete the work.
  23. Next year, I will renew the assembly following the previous instructions of "... or 5 years..." since it is a custodian. Who knows if main dealer parts were utilised during the last renewal? Your mechanic can't legitimately say that the vehicle can go 14,500 kilometres since its last renewal if this isn't the case.
  24. Much obliged, It didn't seem like my mechanic was interested in doing it, and he was firm that it wasn't essential. The most recent oil change was in 2022 at 96,000 miles, and the total mileage is 146,000 (the paperwork was supplied by the garage right before I bought it). Just like any other vehicle, I plan to hold on to this one until it becomes too expensive to maintain. My last Audi a6 lasted until it was seventeen years old, with sixty thousand miles on the odometer.
  25. I thought we were supposed to change the cambelt assembly around 2020, right? It all comes down to your level of bravery and how long you plan on keeping it, because an adventurous owner might go against what Audi currently recommends. How far has it been driven so far?
  26. As you can see from searching these forums, Audi's recommendation for cambelt renewal has fluctuated over the years, ranging from approximately 80,000 to 140,000 and everything in between. Trade forum members typically recommend 80,000 miles or five years, whichever is earlier. Compared to the cost of replacing the engine due to cambelt failure, this repair is a steal.
  27. My 2015 Audi A5 coupe is a 2.0 TDI. The cambelt intervals have recently changed to 140,000 miles, according to a local mechanic I spoke with. I would appreciate it if someone could verify the truth of this. In my mind, it was either 80,000 or four years. Although he did say it's not necessary just yet. Much obliged.
