Purchasing from independent dealers
another_clean_sheet replied to Doncaster34's topic in General Car Chat
Kia will fulfil warranty claims up to £1,000 without any service history, according to my Kia service manager. Regrettably, a limited number of warranty claims amount to less than one thousand dollars. Therefore, give significant consideration to refraining from acquiring this vehicle. -
I just acquired a 2022 R8 in Kemora Grey and am enquiring about suitable alternatives for rear license plate covers. I saw that a "Audi Sport" OEM plate cover in carbon fibre is available for $150, however I would want to enquire about your experiences with it. I would like not have an inexpensive plastic dealer cover on my new vehicle.

Which diagnostic code is optimal to obtain?

I saw a post on Carly, which seems to get mixed reviews and requires a membership. Is the BMW cable necessary for INPA K CAN? -
Which diagnostic code is optimal to obtain?
another_clean_sheet replied to another_clean_sheet's topic in General Car Chat
Indeed, battery, circuit, etc. -
I own inpa on an antiquated laptop that I acquired when I had my e46, but it is now many years old. I am uncertain if an E70 will be included, and I suspect my cable was damaged when it was borrowed by someone. What is an effective tool for retrieving trouble codes and doing coding? I believe I too have Istanbul on my device; but, it is a cumbersome laptop, making it impractical to search for an E70 with it.

Thank you for your counsel.

I have just acquired a 71-plate 1 Series equipped with the M Sport Pro package, which has 18,000 miles on the odometer. I have received a service plan proposal from the dealer in the northwest, which is only valid at their dealership. I may get a national service plan from EMAC that covers the forthcoming major service, minor service, and two MOTs. I need guidance on whether the national strategy is preferable and whether two years is sufficient. I want to retain the vehicle for around five years. Thank you.

Problem with 2015 520 M Sport
another_clean_sheet replied to Doncaster34's topic in General Car Chat
Occasionally, they occur without any prior notice. If the issue pertains to the chain, it can often be rectified with reasonable ease after the engine is removed. However, there is a possibility that the chain may have entangled and caused damage to the block, but certainty cannot be established until disassembly occurs. I have never seen this happen; all the instances I have encountered included fractured rockers or, at most, a cracked cam carrier. I completed two tasks the previous week that incurred no more harm and just necessitated chain replacements. -

It seems possible that the chain has fractured, considering the conditions and the cam sensor problem. What is the mileage, since the B47 engines are far less susceptible to failure? -
I just looked at mine and snapped a couple of shots. The first one is with lights on 'auto'. My understanding is they are the daytime running lights, and - sure - the tall one in the grill serves as amber indication. The second shot is when I switch on the headlights. This is my second CX60, and I am certain the first one was identical.

Have you attempted the resets I referenced? It is an exceedingly frustrating situation that ought not to occur. -
2023 XC60 Recharge T8 indicates disconnection

This was effective for me. Initially, press and hold the home button until the screen goes blank and initiates a reload (continue holding until the screen cleaning mode notification vanishes). Subsequently, press and hold the rear defrost button until the SOS above light begins to flash. Exit the vehicle and secure it using the remote control. Wait a few minutes, then use the remote to unlock the vehicle. push the brake once, followed by another push while starting the automobile. This occurred with my 2023 S60 T8, and the aforementioned solution was effective. A Volvo technician conveyed this information to me over telephone. It is somewhat frustrating, but it has restored the system connections. Best of luck. -
What is the current status of my warning lights?

The e46 330d I sold after 16 years still has its original parts. -
What is the current status of my warning lights?
another_clean_sheet replied to nickoyster4's topic in General Car Chat
The most probable cause is a faulty rear earth pin. I suggest doing a search on Google or this forum for a solution, specifically on the repair for the rear tail light earth. This task is rather simple and I have successfully completed it on several BMW automobiles. The earth pin tends to become burned out, and in severe cases, it may not even be visible due to extensive damage. -
Is a green paper driving license available?
another_clean_sheet replied to another_clean_sheet's topic in General Car Chat
The current cost of upgrading to a picture license is £20. -
Hello everyone, I am curious to know who is now using an outdated green paper driving license for their driving purposes. I will be turning 70 in the near future and have made the decision to update my outdated green paper license, which was granted in the early 1970s. This update is necessary since my licence will need replacement at that time. Additionally, possessing a passport or any other kind of picture identification, separate than my bus ticket, would greatly facilitate the process of providing identification, since bus passes are often not accepted as genuine photo identification. Nowadays, several companies need individuals to provide some kind of photographic identification, either in person or online. This growing trend is posing challenges for those of older generations, like me, who find it more difficult to establish their identity.

Is there an issue with the air intake?
another_clean_sheet replied to FireCar's topic in General Car Chat
Examine this archived discussion from my prior A5 TDI V6 vehicle. P2020 may potentially indicate a situation where the intake manifold flaps are immobilised or detached. -

It's commendable that you are making contact! I have a few questions about MY2024: 1. Is there a plan to provide a functionality that enables us to deactivate the audible notifications for speed alerts (ISA) via the i-ACTIVESENSE button? At now, the button mutes all alarms. Therefore, it would be beneficial to have a function that allows us to choose which alerts are deactivated by this button. 2. The pace at which map updates are released is very sluggish, occurring around every 3 months. Furthermore, even the most recent maps are highly wrong when it comes to speed limitations. Roads that were designated with a speed restriction of 50km/h from November 2023 are nevertheless shown as having a speed limit of 60km/h, even on maps from June 2024. 3. Mazda plans to include real-time map updates into the CX-30 this year. Will this feature be accessible in the MY2024 model, or will we be limited to outdated speed restrictions and obligatory Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) functionality?

Approximately a decade ago, I used their services. However, due to the current exchange rate and increased shipping expenses, I deemed it impractical to import components from the United States.

Oil Leak - Replace the CCV vortex with a felt filter?
another_clean_sheet replied to HOV's topic in General Car Chat
No, I had an MGZTCDTI, which is equipped with the BMW M47 engine. They had toilet paper, and then my E46 330d also had toilet paper. I would remove it and cleanse it using petrol. Additionally, I had a spare new one which I would replace every time I changed the air filter. -
Oil Leak - Replace the CCV vortex with a felt filter?
another_clean_sheet replied to HOV's topic in General Car Chat
There are three kinds of casings: loo roll, vortex, and another one whose name I can't recall. Two of them have the same exterior casing, but the third one is bigger. I believe my old e92 335d m57 had the larger redesigned casing, not the vortex or loo roll.
