On Tuesday night at around 8 o'clock, my Porsche alarm was activated. Upon looking out of the window, I saw that the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the bonnet was not well secured.I raised it, and the battery seemed to be on fire.Contacted the fire department, who successfully contained the situation upon arrival. However, all wiring has melted, the plastic components are incinerated, the bonnet is fractured, the windscreen is damaged, and there is water in the engine compartment. I am awaiting confirmation on whether it is repairable or a total loss; I suspect it will be deemed a total loss, given it is a 2000 Boxster. I will provide more information when available.

I intended to mention that they were Michelins on my E Class (now revised), so I will wait and observe for the time being and likely replace them.

Greetings My Sporty HEV had its first service on Friday in November 2023. Everything is OK; but, I was slightly taken aback when the Vehicle Health Check indicated two faults need prompt care. The inquiry pertains to the two front tires (Continental Contact 6 235/55/R18V XL), which had a tread depth of 4mm. The dealership provided a quotation of £402 for the replacement of these tires, despite the vehicle being just one year old and having completed only 4,000 kilometres. The service representative said that they mark tires with 4mm or less, therefore I am optimistic about achieving much higher mileage from them in the next year. I had Michelin Primacy run-flat tires on my last vehicle, a Mercedes E-Class estate, which I owned from new. After 4.5 years and 20,000 miles, the original tires were still fitted.

Interestingly, the start/stop function of my vehicle is not functioning properly, despite having a new main battery installed last year. However, I was not under the impression that the capacitors in the W205 model had a significant role in affecting the functionality of the air conditioning system. However, it is advisable to investigate more.

Male individual After enjoying a flawless experience with my automobile for a period of 2 years, however, my run of good luck came to an end when I had to store it outdoors for 2 weeks instead of in an underground location after moving. The air conditioning system functioned well in the morning, but after being exposed to direct sunlight throughout the day, on the second warmest day of the year, it ceased to operate in the evening. I attempted to activate the button on the console, but it failed to illuminate. When I accessed the climate menu and attempted to enable the air conditioning (AC), the checkbox would temporarily mark itself for a moment before automatically unchecking itself again. What is the likelihood that it only needs recharging? Can such a transformation occur abruptly? I would have anticipated a gradual deterioration in cooling efficiency rather than an abrupt malfunction. The car was manufactured in 2016 and its charging history is unknown. Should I see a Mercedes expert for the best outcome? Can anybody provide suggestions for places of interest in the Windsor/Maidenhead/Reading region? Thank you everyone!

Where can I get replacement tips for a gen2 facelift car?
VVC-Geeza replied to VVC-Geeza's topic in General Car Chat
The exhaust system consists of a single outlet, and the carbon diffuser is specifically designed for a single outlet as well, so there is no need to modify the number of outlets. I just want to discard the glossy stainless material. -

Although it may seem trivial, the unmodified oem tips on my rear bumper are the only components that have not been altered, and it is causing me some frustration. Is there any manufacturer that produces titanium replacement bumper tips or similar products? The 2022 rear-wheel drive (RWD) vehicle is equipped with a supercharger, adjusted for optimal performance using e85 fuel, and has a pure performance racing exhaust system. Additionally, it is equipped with a bagged suspension system, 3-piece Rotiform wheels, an extensive amount of carbon aerodynamic components, and has been treated with stealth paint protection film (PPF). The stock recommendations really annoy me, hehe.

Best of luck in deactivating any devices that emit a bleeping sound. The Xceed emits audible signals for several reasons, all of which are justified, even if their purpose may not be immediately apparent. I see them as an opportunity for personal growth and development. The only obstacle so far is the LKA.

Prior to each voyage, we deactivate the Lane Keep Assist feature. Since the closest motorway is located 130 miles from us, it is not necessary for our use. Not all A roads are winding rural roads. The majority of primary highways consist of very straight single carriageways, sometimes with slight curves. It is perilous when the car's steering pulls, since it requires exerting force in the opposite direction to correct it. When the vehicle is in operation, as a passenger, you may perceive a lateral swaying motion, similar to being on a ship, even if the speed is not very high.

Online account for the Driver and Vehicles Licencing Agency (DVLA)
VVC-Geeza replied to VVC-Geeza's topic in General Car Chat
Thank you. It is somewhat peculiar, considering the customer support representative I conversed with explicitly said that the discrepancy in names was the reason for the inability to include the vehicle. It is possible that they have made enhancements to the system since you established yours! -
Online account for the Driver and Vehicles Licencing Agency (DVLA)

The platform is designed to facilitate the management of Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), driver records for vehicle rental, and MoT status. The developers have said that further features would be added in the future. -
I am uncertain about the exact date of introduction of them, but I believe they are rather recent. I recently navigated the government website to establish my account, and the process was quite seamless. The website requested the standard government information for verification purposes, such as passport number and driving licence number. Consequently, I was able to promptly create and activate my account. Subsequently, I attempted to include my automobile in the account, but it was not accepted. The DVLA Driver and Vehicles account requires users to provide their complete names, which must match their official ID. However, my V5C document only has my first name and surname. As a result, the account experiences technical issues and does not accept my document. To resolve this issue, I contacted the customer services department. They informed me that the solution is to send my V5C document to the DVLA, with Section 3 filled out with my complete name. Additionally, I should include a covering letter clarifying my identity and explaining the need to update the V5C to match my customer account name. Subsequently, they will dispatch a fresh V5C document to me, which is expected to take around 4 weeks to complete. Once I have the new V5C, I will be able to log in and register my car. It is important to note that the new online accounts need complete names to be provided on the V5C.

For those who may not be informed? In my opinion, I think it is necessary to revamp the VED regime and implement a uniform fee for all cars, regardless of their emissions, government incentives, mileage, age, or kind of propulsion. The one exemption pertains to the heightened tariff imposed on high-priced automobiles. In my own view. https://www.foraymotorgroup.co.uk/news/the-2025-ved-tax-changes/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3iVErXEhx272yl4mf_x_V1PuQqJvdKsr6ULnPj-AzWsqNrdMgGsrNwnE8_aem_AW5FAUyUiE1YoxTK1degJ4b4ci_3rdrNImr3bzlLD4Lmp2iyggoGwh9Vffi2wchn08YFFrlAen3H8WJILK6d-E9g

Tyre repair kits for do-it-yourself (DIY) use.
VVC-Geeza replied to VVC-Geeza's topic in General Car Chat
I have conducted some study. I want to experiment with using Tiger bond adhesive on the threads of a tyre screw. -
Has anybody used mushroom plugs, strings or screws for the purpose of repairing a tyre? If so, what are the techniques for implementing a long-lasting repair?

With the gen 2.5 makeover, the gear ratios of the basic and performance models are now identical, unlike the gen 2 models which had varied gear ratios. Indeed, by utilising a tune, it is possible to achieve equivalent horsepower outputs. The braking package will undergo modifications, however, there are other methods to enhance those components.

Anticipating a year with a CX90 and around 18,000 kilometres.
VVC-Geeza replied to HOV's topic in General Car Chat
My MHEV with 3200 miles has been satisfactory, except for the recall and software upgrades. Unfortunately, my dealer is quite unprofessional. I will need to start a 45-minute journey to the other dealership in order to address warranty-related matters. In Oklahoma City, there are a total of two Mazda dealerships. -
My previous iPod is inoperable in my CX30, yet it is functional in all other vehicles I have had, which is really vexing.
