The shown figure illustrates an extra charge of £390 per year or £214.50 per half year imposed on vehicles registered after April 1, 2017, with a list price above £40,000. The supplementary rate is only applicable for the first five-year period of road tax renewal, after which subsequent renewals will be subject to the normal rate corresponding to the vehicle's fuel category.
