pharmoun
Greetings, everyone. I would appreciate advice from SL55AMG owners about the type of rear tyres you are presently using, as well as your comments on which brand offers the optimal balance between durability, performance, comfort, and cost. The vehicle I own is a 2003 R230 SL55AMG, which is now equipped with Goodyear Eagle 285/35R 18 tyres mounted on its original turbine wheels. The available alternatives are Pirelli P Zeros, Continental Sportcontact3's, and Michelin Pilot sport 3's. What are your collective experiences, gentlemen... I only use this vehicle throughout the summer season, with little usage in rainy conditions.I do not vigorously criticise it. I like a noiseless and obedient tyre that has a lifespan of at least 3000 kilometres. Thank you in advance
BENZE220AMG
Do not underestimate the grip of the Pirelli P Zero tyres. I am deciding between the Michelin Pilot Sports and Goodyears.
torque2me
The Goodyear Asy 6 is a high-quality performance tyre known for its reduced noise emissions.
bl52krz
Falken tyres provide exceptional value and demonstrate good performance and durability over time.
vitessear3
In my perspective, there is no alternative to the Pilot Sport 4S. There is no occurrence of early wear, especially if you are not mistreating them.
mrnobady
The performance of a UUHP tyre relies on its use. In typical driving situations, a UUHP tyre sacrifices its wet performance capabilities in order to achieve a greater degree of performance, which is biassed towards dry weather conditions. Determine the specific vulnerabilities of your present systems and make a well-informed decision to rectify those weaknesses. Comparing the UHP Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, it can be concluded that the Asymmetric 6 offers a more dynamic and sporty driving experience. DenishP4
If you anticipate only utilising your vehicle throughout the summer season and in dry weather conditions, I advise against dismissing the proposition presented by Pirelli. Most Mercedes automobiles in southern Europe are equipped with Pirelli or Bridgestone tyres.BMW automobiles in southern Europe are equipped with Hancock tyres once again. The original tyres on my Mercedes were Continental 5 p tyres, which were subsequently changed twice with Continental tyres. Subsequently, I tested the Goodyear Asy 5 tyres and found them to be really satisfactory.Although it is not an AMG, the vehicle has a powerful engine with 330 brake horsepower. Additionally, the tyres were in fantastic condition.
Starcar2022
The contact sport 6 on the c63 had a short lifespan, lasting just 6,000 km. The performance of the w204 Dunlop Sportsmax tyres on the w205 C63 was quite disappointing. However, after switching to the MPS4S tyres, the performance improved significantly. Similarly, the SLK55 AMG equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres performed really well in various weather situations. I really dislike P zeros, but I find that they are compatible with the F-type without any problems. However, I only use them while driving in dry conditions. CelestialSeeker
My personal favourite is either Michelin or Continental - both are excellent choices.
pharmoun
I am especially enticed by the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres.
CelestialSeeker
Consider visiting Costco to explore their current offer on Michelin products. It might be beneficial to investigate if you have a membership or if someone you know has.
pharmoun
Thank you to everyone. Unfortunately, Costco does not have the appropriate size for the rear tyres I need. I am disappointed about this. I cannot find any nearby locations that offer the Pilot Sport 4s in an 18-inch size. I have made a reservation with a nearby tyre shop on Friday to have new rear Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres installed.
CelestialSeeker
For your information, they have the ability to order any item. I purchased the appropriate 'N' rated Michelins for my 911 and the dealership was willing to special order them. It is not advisable to only depend on the cost shown on the website, since not all possible options may be included.
pharmoun
I have had a negative experience with the tyre fitters at Costco. Specifically, my son had new front tyres installed on his front-wheel drive vehicle at their establishment. Their approach was to replace the 'new' tyres on the rear of his vehicle and move his somewhat worn ones to the front. I disagreed with this decision since the front tyres are responsible for steering and most of the braking, so they would benefit from having greater grip in wet conditions. It required several deliberations to get the desired outcome according to our preferences.
CelestialSeeker
In my opinion, the policy is very standard, to be honest. It is not exclusive to Costco, but in the end, you did get your desired outcome. When considering the situation, it requires more exertion on their part. They are putting in more work rather than taking shortcuts.
ENVIOclev
For optimal performance, it is recommended to have the highest quality tyres installed on the front of the vehicle, regardless of whether it is front or rear wheel drive, as long as the tyres are not different sizes. vitessear3
I strongly disagree with this statement. Even in dry conditions, the P-Zero tyres on my vehicle lack grip to such an extent that they may as well have been manufactured by Cadbury's.
CelestialSeeker
On what authority do you make such statement? 😄
