Since the two bulbs have the wrong color temperature, I'll simply replace them both.

Does anyone know whether replacement lights work? What I mean is light bulbs not made by Osram, Bosch, etc.

Even though I mentioned the factory setting, is it worthwhile to increase the temperature to get a better beam, and would this in any way impact the MOT?

My x5's aftermarket bus works just fine.
It's tough to find the 5000k, which is disappointing, but the 6000k is perfect.

Increasing the color temperature of a light bulb beyond around 4400k makes it seem brighter than it really is. Personally, I think 6000k is too high.

When I get my adaptive headlights to successfully communicate with the steering angle sensor, I will install them.

In the end, it turned out to be a purely intellectual exercise. Actually, I do have halogen bulbs.

Thankfully, purchasing a new set of bulbs is not too expensive.
The Osram Nightbreakers are a must-have.

To be honest, I've never had a BMW with enough lighting up front.

I've had many different BMW models, so I can attest to this over a wide range of bulb and headlamp configurations. My old E-class Mercedes had factory hids, and it was one of the nicest vehicles I've ever owned for nighttime visibility.

I finally got around to replacing the light bulbs today. Learned the secret behind their varying hues. Not to mention the 100W lights that were installed.

To clear things up, the left one seems to be charred on the inside but is still operational.
