  1. Greetings. Has anybody successfully restored the mirror chrome gloss on a CLS Panamera grille?
  2. My vehicle is scheduled in at the merc experts next Monday and they’ve said they don’t want to terrify me but they had a girl in lately and it cost her £3000 as they replaced EGR, cooler and manifold… clearly my manifolds been updated. They stated the would strip everything down and see what’s wrong but he said they’d rather replace things that appear a little dodgey rather than me having to come back again with identical issue
  3. Thank you for your response. Another issue I failed to add before I had the intake manifold fixed one garage informed me I also had an egr code aswell. Not sure which code it was but I presume may have been the same
  4. Greetings, everyone. I need guidance on my 2015 Mercedes CLA 220d, which has 65,000 km. Three months ago, I had the intake manifold fixed at my local service. The day after it was replaced I had P0401 code pop up so went it straight back to the shop who stated it was probably due to not resetting the egr valve. They stated they reset the egr and erased the P0401 code. 500 miles later the code came back on so brought it back for additional testing. A smoke test was conducted along with a brief inspection of the visible hoover hoses. Everything seemed satisfactory, hence the code was reset once again. 700 miles later the code came back on and again was reset by the garage claiming they didn’t know what it might be. They stated they could replace specific items like egr etc but it would be guess work and a process of elimination. Basically I need to know Whether I can continue on driving it like this since it only comes on for like 20 miles a time every few hundred miles and also does anybody have any thoughts what it may be? I consulted my Mercedes expert, who indicated that they could need to disassemble the system, perhaps requiring the replacement of the EGR and cooler. My fear is that this might result in costs up to thousands. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Indeed, it is their intended purpose.
  6. If the first problem pertained to the temperature sensor as well, I would not only attempt a replacement. I would first examine the wiring, connections, and do preliminary tests. Temperature sensors function primarily as resistors, making them straightforward to test, analyse, and even mimic using a variable resistor. Your inexpensive diagnostic instrument should also display the measured air temperature value.
  7. I am unfamiliar with the engine; but, all other models I have seen use a TMAF, which incorporates the intake temperature sensor. Disconnecting the MAF will validate the mistake indicating an open circuit in Air Temp Sensor 1. What was the reason for the replacement of MAF?
  8. Affirmative. I had the Start/Stop feature repaired on my W204, only to subsequently deactivate it each time I began driving. I despise the device, although if it is installed in the vehicle, it must be fully operational (so that I may deactivate it....).
  9. The Front Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor is a prevalent issue, with repair costs for components and labour ranging from £250 to £300. There exists an inexpensive Chinese emulator available for purchase on eBay for around ten dollars; nevertheless, I would not endorse it. Another prevalent problem is the seat belt buckle mechanism, which is somewhat less expensive to repair, estimated at about £150-£200. The vehicle requires scanning with STAR (or iCarsoft) for verification.
  10. The orange indicator signifies the passenger airbag status. I believe the original poster is referring to a red SRS warning on the instrument cluster.
  11. Aside from the MB parts department?
  12. I have a preference for the W164 as a road vehicle; but, I am uncertain about its efficacy as an off-road vehicle. Although it has certain off-road capabilities, it was primarily developed as a more sophisticated road car with enhanced on-road characteristics. If intending to often use the vehicle for off-road conditions, I would highly recommend researching options such as the Shogun, Land Cruiser, or Patrol, since a Suzuki may be insufficient in size.
  13. Thank you for your message. I am willing to visit the closest dealer, which is in close proximity to the vehicle's location. The support staff said they will examine the matter and respond to me. I presume they would not take the initiative to investigate it nonetheless. I will schedule an appointment first thing in the morning.
  14. This is a brief update about this matter. I contacted Mercedes support, and they said they will investigate the matter. I provided the requested information on September 17th. Since that time, however, I have had no communication whatsoever. The vehicle has been stationary in my driveway since the malfunction, leaving me without transportation, hence exacerbating my difficulties. Has anybody else had a similar situation? What was the duration of their response time to you? Any suggestions for expediting the process would be much appreciated! Thank you!
  15. Greetings to everybody, On September 14, 2024, while traversing the M25 freeway, the vehicle abruptly ceased operation without prior indication, exhibiting an error message on the dashboard that read “48V Battery Malfunction.” The abrupt loss of power on a congested freeway jeopardised my safety and that of other motorists considerably. Fortunately, I managed to pull over to the emergency lane, but it was an exceedingly stressful and dangerous circumstance that occurred four times on the same day. Initially, I attempted to reach Mercedes Assistance; but, despite many tries via the button in the vehicle, I was unable to connect or get any assistance, exacerbating the urgency and stress of the situation. After a little delay, I successfully restarted the car; however, it soon lost power again, necessitating another stop over. After around 15 minutes of waiting, I successfully restarted the vehicle and drove home safely. Nonetheless, considering the severity of the fault and the frequency of power loss, I am very apprehensive about the vehicle's dependability and safety in the future. I have reached out to support via email, anticipating a response with a solution, but I have yet to get any communication from them. I selected the Mercedes over the Range Rover due to my belief in its superior reliability. Undoubtedly, I was erroneous. Has anybody encountered a 48V battery malfunction, and what resolution did Mercedes provide? Additionally, would this problem be included by the warranty?
  16. I am in the midst of purchasing a 2008 SLK 200 Kompressor with a mileage of 91,000 kilometres. Is this purchase advisable if the timing chain has not been replaced? I anticipate your responses.
  17. A VIN decoder website provides extensive information about your vehicle.
  18. Test the system with the air mass sensor unplugged; does this result in smoother operation?
  19. The shown vehicle is a demonstration. This may be the solution for the Bentley aficionado seeking a custom sports vehicle in the 'Saville Row' style. I would focus on the issue of whether it would bring me happiness. The Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius famously said, "Very little is required to achieve a happy life; it resides entirely within yourself... in your mindset." What is our assessment?
  20. Indeed, that is pretty typical for a battery of that age in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
  21. This is the electrical socket. Additionally, I would like to mention that my 2006 C class vehicle is equipped with a similar gearbox, but with modest modifications to accommodate its specific requirements. This gearbox has successfully endured over 150,000 miles, effectively handling the challenges posed by the powerful 5.4 V8 AMG engine. I encourage you to be patient and resilient in your situation.
  22. It is your decision, however you do not need a specialist just for the 'Mercedes gearbox', since the 722.6 gearbox is used in other cars, including Chryslers (such as the Crossfire in the UK). Any reputable gearbox shop should be capable of handling it. The device is very resilient with just a few, but well-documented, flaws. One peculiar flaw is the migration of fluid from the TCU plug to the TCM, caused by an internal leakage. Fortunately, the TCU plug is inexpensive to repair. If you own a small assortment of manual tools, you may easily do a do-it-yourself inspection of the vehicle while it remains on the ground. Remove the carpet from the floor area in the front passenger compartment. Detach the footplate by loosening the screws, which are about 4 x 6mm in size. Disconnect the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) and carefully inspect for the presence of oil that is not supposed to be there. Is there a lack of oil? The TCU is not responsible for the leak. In a right-hand drive (RHD) automobile, it is done like this.
