WhisperingWillow
Greetings everyone, has anybody else had the opportunity to experience one of these? I tested it and tried it out today - quite satisfied! The increase is from 184 horsepower to 254 horsepower and from 290 Newton-meters to 436 Newton-meters. As a backdrop, my original intention was to purchase a 330i. However, I stumbled across a stunning 2021 320i with very low mileage at a favourable price. After learning that this particular model can be remapped effectively, I decided to go with the purchase. Upon conducting a thorough analysis, it has been determined that the remapping of the ECU is not successful due to its locked-down state. After doing more research, I proceeded to purchase the Bluespark box. With the exception of the need to break the MAP sensor in order to remove it, the installation process was straightforward. Pardon the dirty wheels, since the vehicle has just been exposed to rain. Some of you may comprehend the pun on the box 😉
motorman3
Do they not over fuel the car? Opting for a remap is the most optimal course of action, and I recall seeing discussions of some mappers who have successfully bypassed the ECU's restrictions. Not within my area of expertise, hence I am uncertain.
migueldosantos77
Indeed, they manipulate the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) by altering the data obtained from the sensors. It may be described as a resistor contained inside a box. An optimal solution is to do a remap, since the electronic control unit (ECU) is currently restricted, but skilled mappers have the ability to unlock it. trikey
100 percent It will not have an additional 70 brake horsepower (bhp).Jason at BWChiptune thoroughly evaluated all of these devices and found them to be comically inadequate. Additionally, it should be noted that although they may now include a few sensors such as MAF/MAP, it would be more prudent to save your money and go for a remap, or alternatively, consider MHD or Bootmod3. WhisperingWillow
Today, I went on a 100-mile excursion with it - you may doubt my words, but it really exhibits a much higher speed. Perhaps Jason at Chiptune has not tried any of these options? Recently, I had the opportunity to borrow a 2023 M135i for a week. After driving it, I noticed that my own car, a stock 320i, suddenly felt more similar to the M135i. However, I must admit that I didn't really like the M135i. I conducted much study on the ECU remap, and it proved to be a challenging endeavour. The most favourable quotation I received was £800 plus Value Added Tax (VAT) alone for the purpose of unlocking it, not to mention the additional cost of remapping it. In my opinion, the device has to be transferred overseas in order to be unlocked. However, there is a possibility that BMW may erase the map if they provide an over-the-air update. I agree that ECU remaps are superior. I had a substantial 38% enhancement in performance on my last 320D over a span of 10 years and 193,000 miles, which was really satisfactory. The tuning box provides a comparable boost in horsepower and a significant increase of torque at lower revolutions per minute (RPM). I lack knowledge about the inner workings of the box in question, but in essence, it just modifies the output parameters of the Engine Control Unit (ECU), which is essentially the primary function of a remap. The cables included are for MAP, CAM, and boost functions. If I get the opportunity, I will create a film in the next days that compares the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph of a stock vehicle with one that has been modified.Additionally, the price of the item is just £299, and shipping is provided at no extra charge. MDMH757
😄😄😄  A map serves a multitude of purposes beyond that.
migueldosantos77
The process does not directly alter the output from the ECU. Instead, it manipulates the input parameters in order to influence the resulting output. A remap not only does the task mentioned, but also accurately adjusts parameters instead of manipulating them. If Jason has the ability to successfully map an M2, I am quite certain, with a 99% certainty, that he would be able to map your 320i as well. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that he would need to ship the ECU overseas in order to unlock it.
WhisperingWillow
Indeed, you are correct. The box intercepts the incoming signals from the sensors and manipulates the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in order to generate more power. I now get the concept. However, despite my preference for a thorough remap, it is just not feasible

WhisperingWillow
While I acknowledge Rick's expertise as a tuner, I prefer not to burden him with redundant information that has already been conveyed by many other tuners. Regardless, Unicorn does not provide G* models for remapping on their website.

WhisperingWillow
As previously stated in this post, there are three channels. In addition, it has five configurable maps and a "volume control" for more precise adjustments.
WhisperingWillow
Below is a webpage detailing the tuning process for an F30, including dyno runs. It is intriguing to see how BMW actively restricts the gasoline supply precisely when it is most desired. The aspect that I found most exasperating was the auto transmission's tendency to rev the engine up to 7000rpm without any significant increase in performance beyond 5000rpm. https://bluesparkautomotive.com/projects/320i-b48-tuning
