W164 as an all-terrain vehicle.

I now own a rather fatigued Mitsubishi Pajero that is used off-road almost daily on damp, rutted fields and uneven terrain. I am curious about how a W164 might perform under this kind of use with suitable tires. I own an ML420 vehicle and I appreciate it. An impartial local Mercedes-Benz expert cautioned against the W163, which was my first consideration mostly due to road tax implications. I recognise that early W164 models also fall into the lower tax category, which is why I am enquiring.
The Pajero's primary drawback, apart from its age, is the insufficient inside room. The W164 has significantly more space when the seats are stowed. Additionally, they possess excellent towing capabilities.
Pickups are of no use to me. Inadequate security, subpar off-road capability, and unwieldy design.

My W163 ML270 is equipped with all-terrain tires, which perform really well in rainy fields and farm tracks. Additionally, it has a low range, which is advantageous. Uncertain about the comparison with a W164, but I would assert that is comparable, if not superior, because to the enhanced traction control on recent models. The earlier 163 retains a ladder chassis.

I have a preference for the W164 as a road vehicle; but, I am uncertain about its efficacy as an off-road vehicle. Although it has certain off-road capabilities, it was primarily developed as a more sophisticated road car with enhanced on-road characteristics.

If intending to often use the vehicle for off-road conditions, I would highly recommend researching options such as the Shogun, Land Cruiser, or Patrol, since a Suzuki may be insufficient in size.

While the prices vary significantly and older models are notorious for severe corrosion, the G-Wagen remains unparalleled as a genuine Mercedes-Benz off-roader. Aside from a Unimog.

I am unaware of your budget; but, a little examination of eBay reveals that this is the least expensive option available, and the seller has misspelt the name.

The existing wheels are wholly inadequate for off-road use, but they would likely fetch a higher price than the cost of a decent set of wheels and tires.

I own several vehicles that surpass the capabilities of a Unimog; yet, they are not very useful for transportation purposes.Amusement expressed through laughter.
My budget is at the ML level; hence, the G-Wagen is regretfully outside my financial capacity.
To be fair, there are several machine learning models available that I could experiment with, incurring no risk if I were to damage them. I do not want to damage my pristine black ML420.

I am not very fond of the newest Shogun models, among others. I could regulate its use somewhat to address the ML's deficiencies. I want to avoid a continuous occurrence of ball joint and steering problems.
Today's very damp area discovered when extracting a lay flat pipe from a new batter. This is the first instance in which I have been completely immobilised. Fortunately, my most effective extraction apparatus was readily available.
