WhisperingWillow
Hi, My first post on the forum since I just purchased a Mk1 Kuga, 2.0 diesel 163bhp. Unfortunately, I need to replace the turbo and can't find much information online. It seems that the task will be difficult due to its location. Has anybody done this without a ramp? How much time will it take? Any assistance would be much appreciated.
ElectricEclipse
We're glad to have you here. I don't remember anyone posting a report for this job, but you could try using the search bar at the top of the screen.
NAVITEL
You may wish to inquire if anyone has a Haynes manual for your Kuga's model year. I presume the breakdown covers the powertrain.
Gianni682
There is no mk1 Kuga Haynes manual available (or there wasn't when I looked). However, the Ford repair manual is available on the site and should have all the information you want. Since the foundations of the mk1 Kuga and the mk2 Focus are so similar, the latter is another credible source of knowledge.

I did try a search and there were posts on turbos but not removal and replacement.

According on what I've observed, it's a time-consuming process that will be made more difficult by the lack of a ramp.
ElectricEclipse
Hey there, nice to have you here at the discussion board. Although I do not remember anybody publishing a summary of this position, you may find one by utilising the search bar located at the top of the page. NAVITEL
You may want to try asking if anyone has a Haynes manual for your Model year Kuga? I assume the engine is covered in the breakdown.

Gianni682
There isn't a Haynes manual for the Kuga MK1 (or there wasn't one when I looked). The Ford workshop manual, however, is located elsewhere on the site and will provide you with the necessary information. The mk2 Focus is a good alternative source of knowledge since the underlying technologies are extremely comparable to those of the mk1 Kuga. WanderlustGuru
The turbo makes it easy beneath the vehicle. I recall changing one a few years ago as a real hassle.
