Mounting a Car Camera

Today, I brought my Next Base dash cam to Halfords for installation in my C-Class vehicle. The individual expressed their inability to accommodate the item due to the presence of only ignition live fuses, as per their recollection. I had a conversation with one of the helpers. The absence of the fitment resulted in a persistent battery drain.
Has this been encountered by others or have you personally experienced the installation of one?

The usage of the Nextbase hard wire kit ensures the absence of any issues. The devices are specifically designed to use a continuous, uninterrupted stream of data and have mechanisms for safeguarding against battery depletion via low voltage protection measures. I own a CLK vehicle and have successfully maintained it in a stationary state for a duration of three weeks without encountering any issues.

The W205 model, along with its counterparts such as the W253 and W213, has a notable susceptibility to battery drainage. I use a Blackvue dash camera system in conjunction with a Powermagic device. The voltage is set at 12.5V and the duration of operation is around 5 minutes. When the voltage is adjusted to 12.0V, the device operates for a duration of many hours. However, after this period, the start function ceases to function for an extended period, which may be seen as desirable by certain individuals. The duration of a couple of hours is attributed to the battery management system's ability to detect the electrical load and subsequently interrupt power supply to all components inside the vehicle. This action is intended to facilitate the resetting of any malfunctioning electronic control units (ECUs) that may be causing excessive power consumption. When the power supply decreases, the functioning of magic is disrupted.

In order to achieve a satisfactory duration of operation, it is important to use a battery pack for the dash-cam.

Purpose of inquiry:

The 2017 C Class 250d vehicle has a Fuse Box positioned at the right-hand end of the Dashboard, next to the point of contact with the driver's door. The removal of the Fuse Box cover may be challenging due to its snug fit, necessitating the use of Plastic Trim tools to prevent any damage to the cover's plastic material.

There are several fuses that may be "piggybacked" from, including those that provide constant live and ignition live power sources.

The individual's assertion may have been accurate, but maybe unaware of the fact that Mercedes vehicles often include many locations for fuse boxes.
All of the cabin fuses in my vehicle are in the off position, thus I used a fuse located in the trunk.

To be candid, there is a limited number of Halfords employees that possess extensive knowledge of intricacies pertaining to automobiles of a more complex kind. Numerous individuals exhibit enthusiasm, although beyond engaging in straightforward and apparent duties, their engagement in more demanding endeavours seems to be lacking. Although there may be conflicting viewpoints, the aforementioned observations have been consistently seen and documented over a period of time.

The dash cam on my C-Class vehicle was connected to a power source located inside the housing above the rear view mirror.
Nevertheless, as previously said, the cameras exhibit a high degree of sensitivity to battery levels, prompting me to disconnect the power source from the camera on a nightly basis.

The power supply for the dash cam on my C-Class car was attached inside the casing situated above the rear view mirror.
However, as mentioned before, the cameras show a notable sensitivity towards battery levels, leading me to unplug the power supply from the camera every night.

I too own a CLK vehicle, however, I am encountering difficulty in locating a non-live fuse inside the fuse box situated next to the steering wheel. It is hypothesised that the camera deactivates its wifi functionality upon connection to the b wire in order to save battery. I am uncertain about the appropriate course of action due to the absence of a low voltage protection mechanism, since I now lack the necessary time to address this issue.
