1) It is likely that most dealerships would extract the oil by suctioning it out, rather than draining it via the sump plug(s), since this would require removing all the undertrays. If one chooses to repeatedly empty the cooler, it is anticipated that there will be a substantial increase in both cost and duration. 2&3) Avoid making any assumptions; anticipate that the jerkiness will need a software upgrade. Would you want them to also deplete the torque converter? 5) Once again, refrain from making assumptions. Request them to share the codes for the versions before and after, since the changes may be rather minor. Anticipate that this process may need a duration of 3-5 hours.

Is there a problem with rear SAM in C Class 2003 W203?
BENZE220AMG replied to Starcar2022's topic in General Car Chat
I am willing to assist if possible. Are you inquiring if the removal of the sensor will result in the absence of fluid? This observation suggests that we are examining distinct sensors. The one I am referring about is located at the pedal located over your feet. When examining the switches and sensors located at the servo and brake reservoir, it is seen that none of them are responsible for activating the brake lights. Additionally, it is important to note that the malfunction of the alarm is most likely attributed to the siren itself, maybe due to corroded terminals or damaged wiring in close proximity to the siren (specifically, the n/s/f wheel arch liner). -
Is there a problem with rear SAM in C Class 2003 W203?

Circuit 30 operates on live power, therefore necessitating the detachment of the battery. However, by only removing the power from the SAM, the failure may be resolved, thereby isolating the problem. The brake light switch is equipped with separate wires for the lights and the ESP/abs, among other components. It can be easily tested with a multimeter. When the switch is pushed, it creates an open circuit, but when it is not pressed, it acts as a resistance. An alternative approach would be to detach the switch, fully extract the central component using a ratchet mechanism, and thereafter reconnect the sensor. This procedure may potentially resolve the issue at hand. However, brake light switches are inexpensive. -

Have you attempted a circuit reset of 30 units? Deactivate the battery power of the SAM module for a brief duration. I would be examining the brake light switch, since a defective switch has the potential to result in both the lights being trapped on and the ESP lights being illuminated. Is a 30mA pull causing battery depletion? Typically, the CAN system carries around 800mA while it is in an active state. -
The NEC Classic Car and Restoration Show
BENZE220AMG replied to WolfieBase's topic in General Car Chat
Personally, I believe it is very worthwhile to attend the NEC concerts, despite their repetitious nature. They provide enough entertainment and the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with exceptional individuals. Membership in the Mercedes Benz club offers a 10% reduction or similar benefit, which is quite advantageous. Typically, we commute from Leeds and spend the day there (which is not a very difficult journey, to be honest). We sometimes contemplate taking the train, but it is too burdensome. I plan to visit the NEC on Saturday and perhaps return on Sunday, since there are some really promising auctions taking place. -
Affirmative, all-season tyres are suitable for year-round usage. Although they may not possess the same level of sharpness as high-performance summer tyres during summer or winter tyres throughout winter, they serve as a satisfactory balance. The range of tyre sizes for all season tyres is often more restricted compared to summer or winter tyres. Therefore, the availability of these tyres will depend on which size fits your car's current wheels. If the dealer is providing payment, choose the kind of payment they provide. However, if you are making a payment, it is advisable to choose for winter tyres and replace them between late April and early October in order to benefit from both options.

Tyres exhibit skipping behaviour, particularly in cold weather, and some vehicles and tyre sizes/designs amplify this phenomenon to make it more conspicuous. Regrettably, the possession of a vehicle equipped with wide, low-profile high-performance tyres is an inherent aspect. If the dealer refuses to replace the tyres at their expense, it is advisable to purchase winter tyres. This will effectively reduce or eliminate the occurrence of tyre skip and significantly enhance the performance of your vehicle in cold and rainy winter conditions.

It didn't cross my mind while I was replacing mine. Based on my understanding, I presume that your setup is similar to mine, where there is a mechanical linkage between the shift lever and the large gearbox working lever underneath the vehicle. These two components are linked by a clevis pin, which may be somewhat challenging to re-connect. In this scenario, the link indicates that the shift mechanism effortlessly aligns itself in the correct position during reassembly. If the position of the shift lever corresponds to the displayed gear on the dashboard and the gearbox has successfully engaged the corresponding gear, then there is no need to be concerned. By the way, during reassembly, ensure that the clevis pin connecting the two levers is firmly positioned, with the locking tab securely engaged in the groove of the pin. I did not intentionally remove the tab, and as a result, I conducted the test drive with the pin in a loose state, on the verge of detaching from the automobile. Fortunately, I discovered the pothole on the way. Valuable knowledge acquired.

I am acquainted with the module since I experienced a similar situation. In my situation, the issue was a misalignment of the optical module responsible for detecting the movement of the gear shift lever in both forward and backward directions. I had both of the symptoms that you mentioned. Does your code reader have the capability to determine the position of the gear lever? I am now unable to recall the specific system under which it is mentioned. However, I will verify this information later today. If such is the case, you may attempt to realign the optical module on your own if you possess skill with tools and a soldering iron, and have a few hours of free time available. I suspect that there was a dry solder junction in this module. I disassembled it, meticulously re-soldered all accessible connections, and then reinstalled and realigned it. The mounting screws are placed in slots that allow for little adjustment between the actual position of the gear lever and the position detected by the optical sensors. To accurately re-position the module, you may make minor modifications and compare the actual position of the lever with the value obtained from the OBD reader. Fortunately, I have not had any other issues with it since then. If I remember correctly, before the issue was resolved, just clearing the fault using the OBD reader will temporarily restore normal performance, usually for a distance of only a few miles. The first failure of the gear shift mechanism was attributed to the left/right '+'/'-' action.

Based on my experience with the CLK, and considering the lack of input from others, I will provide information assuming that the C class and CLK are very comparable. There is a possibility that there is a lever for releasing the emergency gear selector. Raise the central armrest in order to access the storage compartment. Detach the plastic pan located just below the gear selector. Insert your hand inside the opening and locate the narrow aperture at the front. Place a ballpoint pen or a similar object into the designated slot and push down on the lever. This disengages the gear selector interlock. The gear lever should now be unrestricted in its movement. This process need to be included inside the user handbook. The electronic gear selection mechanism in the parts catalogue (EPC) is said to have a 'anti-theft coded' feature. It is not. Any item that has the same component number will function properly. Prior to purchasing a new item, I would recommend having the fault codes examined to see whether the issue is with the ESL or not.

Assist in Enhancing the Appearance of My Mercedes!
BENZE220AMG replied to KWILB's topic in General Car Chat
Congratulations on successfully completing your driving test and acquiring a luxurious Mercedes as your first vehicle at the young age of 17 - a really exceptional accomplishment. I understand that there may be a desire to personalise your first automobile, but I would advise against it, since yours already seems to be an attractive model. It ultimately depends on personal preference, but I feel that making alterations that cost up to Β£40 would detract from the aesthetic appeal of your automobile. I acknowledge that I may come out as a really difficult person with unconventional preferences. Ensure that you use caution when driving and get pleasure from owning a beautiful automobile. ππ» -

It is not worth considering doing it till another 3 years or 20-30k miles have passed.

A change is not considered 'significant' if: The adjustments are modifications that can be shown to have been implemented while cars of that kind were being manufactured. The W140 was equipped with the OM606 engine, except in this nation. It is uncertain if you can get the backing of a reputable brand expert to support your stance.

Assistance required for R129 SL500 halting problem
BENZE220AMG replied to colinallcars's topic in General Car Chat
The CPS or cam sensors would have triggered a fault code, suggesting a possible issue with fuel, anti-surge system, or an unmonitored component. Hope you manage to fix it. -
Invest your money in a Public Provident Fund (PPF) instead of spending it.

Everything is now completed and installed. I devised a solution by creating a small wiring harness and other components, including soldering. I can now safely turn the device on and off using a switch I installed in the glove box. I am pleased with the outcome and can now take her out again as a passenger. She is too big for the back seats, but at least she is properly secured in a booster seat. Dealing with the complexities of a Mercedes is nothing new, but I managed to overcome the challenges in the end. ππΌππΌππΌ
