  1. I believe the same may be stated of several drivers as well! 😉
  2. No, Lane Keep Assist cannot be permanently deactivated since it is a mandatory safety function in accordance with Euro ENCAP/EU regulations. The option to disable it is only available for each individual journey.
  3. Indeed, I am aware of the current situation since I have examined real-time data using an OBD scanner. Perhaps there is a range of 5-95, or perhaps 7-94 (some estimation is required), but there is certainly a margin both above and below the condition of charge. Furthermore, practical testing has shown the existence of a buffer zone, located at the discharged end, which provides a certain level of protection.
  4. It is important to consider that while the dashboard shows 0%, the battery is really at around 6-7%, and when the dashboard shows 100%, the battery is approximately at 95%.
  5. Negative. After its most recent high-temperature operation, the oil will have accumulated at the bottom. Simply drain it without making any changes.
  6. Note that the first and second generations of R8 vehicles have distinct Quattro systems, with the first using a viscous coupling system and the latter employing a Haldex system. The gen2 model has increased tolerance to variations in diameter, as seen by the compatibility with a wider range of standard tyre sizes.
  7. I concur with the need of deactivating the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system when driving off-road, particularly while operating in low-range mode. On a couple occasions, I neglected to deactivate the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system while attempting to ascend very steep grassy slopes. Each of my LR's had difficulties and were immobilised throughout their climb - not desirable. When the DSC is off, the tyres spin excessively without any break or dramatic effect.
  8. Why not provide these equations to the dealer? Only the individuals in question possess the knowledge of the specific terms and circumstances that are applicable, and they alone have the authority to assess the trade-in value.
  9. I received mine as well, but I discarded it.
  10. While I can see the attractiveness of the mesh grille, I personally like the traditional aesthetic. I was dissatisfied with the unimpressive licence plate holder positioned in the centre, hence I chose to get a Euro grille from R8-Stuff. My vehicle is black, and the silver grille in the centre of the black colour scheme looks aesthetically pleasing.
  11. I have an intake component installed on my device, but I am unsure of its specific kind. Unfortunately, I have not yet had the opportunity to disassemble it and identify its exact nature. I also searched online to see if I could find anything comparable, but I found nothing. Additionally, it is equipped with a 1k Motorsport tune and a quicksilver exhaust.
  12. I concur, I too like being presented with challenges, but I am not inclined to participate in a whole marathon till its conclusion. In my opinion, it seems that you have not yet encountered the appropriate supermodel.
  13. I purchased a thermostatic housing that included a new thermostat and cap, and I performed the same thing. After seeing the significant inferiority of the previous cap, I decided to test the new cap as a first step. Surprisingly, the new cap successfully resolved the issue without requiring any more modifications.
  14. Is the coolant exhibiting a vigorous bubbling action and being expelled from the reservoir? I recently had an issue with my R50 vehicle. The seal on the cap of the thermostat housing had deteriorated, resulting in a lack of pressure. Consequently, the coolant did not reach the required temperature for the fan to activate. I was able to resolve the issue by using a new cap. It is worth trying considering their affordable price.
  15. To ensure optimal service from the dealer, it is advisable to bring the car in while the fault is occurring. In some cases, these gearboxes may not generate a fault code. Therefore, if the service is performed while the car is running poorly, the dealer will be able to identify that the issue may be related to the electro plate. If the dealer is a reputable one, they will likely remove the faulty electro plate and replace it with a new one, ensuring that it is properly coded to the car.
  16. I have just became a parent to twins and I am considering replacing my cherished 2 series with a more functional and family-friendly X3. I will make a purchase using a mix of part exchange and full cash payment, excluding PCP/HP. If any of you have lately purchased pre-owned items that have been authorised, please share your experience. Was there a significant degree of flexibility in terms of price negotiation? Do you have any recommendations for obtaining the most advantageous agreement?
  17. To choose the appropriate version, please input your software number into the designated field provided by the installer. Upon examining the first image I shared, it clearly illustrates the sort of platform.
  18. The vehicle in question is a MY17 equipped with the most recent iteration of Compact Gen5. If the first letters and numbers of your software version match those of mine, then it will be identical to the one I have installed. The screens have been arrived.
  19. The presence of oil in the TCU disrupts its performance and leads to 'short circuits'. The whole conductor plate and its electrical solenoids within the gearbox are immersed in Automatic Transmission Fluid operating at temperatures between 80 and 90 degrees Celsius. The distinction is in their intentional design to function in such a manner. The TCU was placed in the passenger compartment, indicating that it was not otherwise. Although it is improbable that this is the issue you are facing, I have shown in post #9 how simple it is to verify. The decision is yours.
  20. To remove the carpet, first detach the soundproofing block by pulling it down. Then, use a 10 mm socket to unscrew the four plastic nuts. Next, lower the metal plate that is securing the TCU (Transmission Control Unit). Finally, loosen the single 8mm bolt that is keeping the TCU in place. Following these steps will successfully complete the removal process. Straightforward.
  21. While you are awaiting the return of your lever, I suggest taking a moment to examine the TCU, as mentioned in my previous article. Although you currently do not exhibit any indications of oil wick, it would be advisable to thoroughly inspect the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) for the presence of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF). No risks or potential negative consequences.
  22. Verifying the presence of ATF Accessing the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) in a car is a simple task that does not need lifting the vehicle. The TCU is conveniently located in the passenger footwell, making it easily accessible. The process of accessing and working on the TCU typically takes about 30 minutes and does not require any specialised equipment. Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) enters the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) when the o-ring on the TCU plug breaks on the gearbox. The replacement component is inexpensive and readily available on the internet. It is worth noting that some people anticipate detecting the scent or presence of Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) on the wires during examination. However, I believe that the fluid has the ability to seep into the individual conductors inside the wire insulation.
